To the President of the French Republic,
and Members of the French Government,
I write to you with deep concern and a strong sense of moral urgency regarding the ongoing atrocities in Iran.
At this very moment, according to independent sources and human rights organizations, more than 36,000 innocent people have been killed by the Islamic Republic of Iran and its Revolutionary Guard. These forces operate not as a legitimate security institution, but as an ideological apparatus of terror, repression and systematic violence — functioning in many ways like the SS under the Nazi regime, enforcing obedience through fear, torture and execution.
This is not an internal political dispute.
It is a humanitarian catastrophe.
Women, students, journalists, workers and teenagers are being executed, imprisoned or tortured simply for demanding basic human rights. Silence in the face of such crimes does not represent neutrality — it represents complicity.
France, as a founding nation of modern democracy and human rights, carries a historical responsibility that cannot be ignored.
Your country knows, better than most, what it means to live under occupation, collaboration and repression. During the Second World War, France experienced the consequences of silence, compromise and authoritarian control — and later reclaimed its dignity through resistance and solidarity with the free world.
France did not regain its freedom by remaining neutral.
It regained it by choosing resistance.
This is why your voice matters today.
The French philosopher Albert Camus, a moral figure of the Resistance, wrote:
“The duty of the intellectual is to speak for those who cannot.”
Today, the Iranian people cannot speak freely. Their voices are being silenced by bullets, prisons and executions.
Another powerful reminder comes from Jean-Paul Sartre:
“Silence is consent.”
In the face of mass killing, silence becomes a form of approval.
Europe must not become accustomed to mass executions, torture and ideological terror simply because they occur beyond its borders.
France has always stood for liberté, égalité, fraternité.
Now is the moment to translate those principles into action:
By condemning the Iranian regime clearly and publicly.
By supporting international investigations into crimes against humanity.
By refusing political or economic normalization with a regime built on mass murder.
And by standing with the Iranian people, not their executioners.
Finally, I urge the French Government to actively support the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization within the European Union.
This issue will be discussed in upcoming EU sessions on 28 January, and France’s position will be decisive. The IRGC is not merely a military body — it is the central instrument of repression, mass killing, and international terrorism of the Iranian regime.
History does not judge nations by their neutrality in times of oppression.
It judges them by which side they chose.
