โ—๏ธRussia may carry out a large-scale, combined missile and drone attack on Ukraine tonight.

According to available information, Russia has accumulated at least 30 ground-based missiles of various types, including Iskander-M ballistic missiles, Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles, RM-48U modified S-400 ballistic missiles, Kn-23 ballistic missiles, and Oniks-M supersonic cruise missiles. About a third of these missiles are Kn-23 ballistics.

In Bryansk Oblast (Klintsy, Bryansk City, & Pochep), Iskander-Ms and RM-48Us are present.

In Kursk Oblast (Fatezh, Manturovo, & Zheleznogorsk), Oniks and Zircons are present.

In Voronezh Oblast (Liski & Novovornezh), Kn-23s are present.

In Rostov Oblast (Millerovo & Taganrog), Zircons and Iskander-Ms are present.

The highest threat is to Kyiv City, Dnipro, and Kremenchuk (Poltava Oblast). Potential targets include thermal power plants and hydroelectric power plants in Kyiv and Dnipro (CHP-4/5/6 TPPs, Trypillya TPP, Prydniprovska TPP, Kyiv HPP, Dniprodzerzhynsk HPP), as well as the Kremenchuk Oil Refinery and the Kremenchuk TPP.

If the attack does take place, Geran-4 and Geran-5 jet-drones will also be used.

There is also a possibility of Kalibr cruise missiles being launched from Buyan-M corvettes in the Caspian Sea, although this information may be related to the ongoing "Centre-2026" exercises, rather than a potential attack.

Strategic bombers will not partake in this attack.

The highest threat is from 11pm to 3:30am (Kyiv Time).

The information provided is preliminary and unconfirmed. There is no guarantee that an attack will indeed take place, just an increased threat.

Counting down the top 10 clips of the Ukraine war:

Day 8, number 3:

Russian and Ukrainian soldier knife fight: Trudove, Donetsk oblast. Circa Spring 2024.

Content warning: There is no gore or any of the fight itself shown in this video. There are plenty of videos of that if you wish to search for them.

Note: any disrespect in the comments of this post will get you instantly blocked.

Taking the #3 spot for the most impactful video of Ukraine war thus far, and easily the most heartbreaking, this is the infamous knife fight between a Russian and a Ukrainian soldier in Spring 2024 during the battle for Trudove, Donetsk oblast.

The Ukrainian soldier attempts to storm a Russian position in a house in close proximity, and the assault devolves into full hand-to-hand combat. The Ukrainian soldier can be heard hurling insults at the Russian, yelling โ€œYou invaded my motherlandโ€, with immense passion.

The cut out part of the video which you can find elsewhere shows both soldiers using their knives, even biting and clawing at eachother in pure desperation.

Eventually, both covered in blood and with body parts mutilated, the Ukrainian soldier falls to the ground. He, absolutely heartbreakingly, asks to be, left to die in peace, farewelling the world as he is completely cut open and bleeding out.

The Russian soldier seemingly feels a moment of empathy and compassion, as he doesnโ€™t want to leave the Ukrainian to die, but decides to respect his wishes. As the Russian leaves, the Ukrainian compliments him as โ€œthe best fighter in the worldโ€, a moment that makes me absolutely cry every single time.

Never have i seen an act of brotherhood and respect in such a brutal war where now, FPV drones rule the battlefield and most soldiers die without laying an eye on an enemy. They fought with a sense of honour and mutual admiration, knowing that deep down they are slavic brothers who are being put against each other by selfish governments in the east and west.

I believe this video shows the most contradictory condition of humanity: That two people can be fighting eachother to the death with brutal blunt force, only to share a deep intrinsic respect for one another, as they know that in another life, in a more peaceful world, they would simply meet eachother as friends due to their shared slavic blood.

Fly high, unnamed Ukrainian soldier. You were also the best fighter in the world. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™

Yesterday, a Ukrainian MiG-29 of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade was shot down by a Russian R-37/77 air-to-air missile launched by a Su-35 fighter jet.

The pilot, 25-year-old Captain Mambetov Marat Redvanovich, ejected after the aircraft was hit, but did not survive.

The MiG-29 was likely shot down near the village of Dolynske in western Zaporizhzhia Oblast at 1:16pm, after it was returning from a combat mission to launch glide-bombs at Russian positions in the Orikhiv direction. A Russian Su-35 which was circling in the area of Mykhailivka, Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia Oblast, at the time, and launched two R-37M air-to-air missiles. An explosion was heard in Dolynske, likely from the aircraft being shot down.

The missile strike forecasted to take place tonight has not occured.

The elevated risk to Kyiv, Dnipro and other cities remains for another ~72 hours.

A reminder that a combination of 9M720 Iskander-M SRBMs, Hwasong-11A North Korean SRBMs, 3M22 Zircon hypersonic cruises, and P800 Onyks-M supersonic cruises are likely to be used.

In the past 24hrs we've seen Russia conduct very limited strikes on bridges.

This is a write up I've shared previously on why destroying bridges across the Dnieper river may not advance their overall goals of the war.

In the past 24hrs we've seen Russia conduct very limited strikes on bridges. This is a write up I've shared previously on why destroying bridges across the Dnieper river may not advance their overall goals of the war.
Iโ€™d like to add to WillyOAMโ€™s statement here:

Russia has no incentive to destroy Ukraine as a state.

Russia needs Ukraine as functional neutral buffer state after the war, which can become a de facto Russian satellite later.

A dysfunctional rump state will become a liability for Russia long term.

As such, the Russian army faces a difficult balance to strike: They need to inflict attrition upon Ukraine enough to induce a military collapse, without destroying Ukraine as a state.

This is why Russia hasnโ€™t collapsed Ukraineโ€™s energy infrastructure and shown significant restraint in many military actions.

Day 9, number 2

Russian T90 Proryv tank Vs American M2 Bradley IFV, Stepove, Donetsk oblast.
11 January 2024

(Apologies for badly cropped video: The full video has both M2 Bradleys more visible, as there were actually 2 of them)

On a lighter note from the previous clip, this absolutely iconic video shows a Russian T90M Proryv tank and a pair of US M2 Bradley IFVs in close-up mechanised combat in Stepove, Avdiyivka direction, Donetsk oblast.

In Ukraine, we saw Russian and American vehicles going at it head-to-head for the first time on a major stage, filmed and viewed by people all around the world. This became an absolutely iconic showdown, the subject of memes, jokes, and entertainment alike. In previous matchups at Robotyne, Verbove, and Novoprokopivka in 2023, western vehicles were being destroyed en masse as Ukraine, pressured by the US, launched a near-suicidal attempt at a blitz to the Azov sea.

However, when it came to Avdiyivka in late 2023 and early 2024, Russian command decided it was their turn to conduct reckless offensives, perhaps none worse than Stepove. What resulted was perhaps the death of mechanised warfare in Ukraine and the rise of drone walls and infiltration tactics.

Of course, the battles around Stepove gave birth to this iconic clip, where 2 American-made M2 bradleys fire on a Russian T90M MBT. Taking sweet revenge for the Robotyne disaster, the Bradleys absolutely annihilate the T90, barely giving it a chance to fire back as it bursts into a ball of flames.

This was largely accredited to the Bradleysโ€™ much faster turret traversal rate of about 60 degrees per second and overall vehicle agility, allowing the 2 IFVs to maneuver rapidly around the T90 and overwhelm it.

This is an absolutely iconic video that i know I and many others will never forget, and is well deserving of the #2 spot.

Orikhiv city, Zaporizhzhya oblast.

There is significantly mixed news from this direction.

To begin on a positive note for Ukraine, counterattacks aimed at reducing the size of the developing left flank continue.

Ukrainian forces were able to fully recapture the village of Pavlivka, and have pushed the Russians back to Mali Shcherbaky.

Additionally, reinforcements that have arrived in the city itself have conducted successful clearing operations against Russian infiltrators in the city centre and in the northwestern part of Mala Tokmachka. The Russian foothold in Orikhiv itself is now limited to the only a couple of streets, with Novodanylivka still being used as an accumulation point for infiltrators.

Now, in regard to the bad news: The situation on the flanks has substantially deteriorated.

Russian infiltrators and assault groups are still very active on the immediate left flank through the villages of Novopavlivka and Novoandriivka. In Novoandriivka specifically, Russian forces made a small advance in the northern part of the town.

On the eastern flank, the frequency of Russian infiltrations west of Chervona Krynytsya and across the highway has now reached a point where Ukraine cannot be considered to exert control of the Novomykolaivka-Orikhiv highway. Russian forces are also clearing Novoselivka and entering Yevhorivka as we speak, with some Russian DRGs reaching the important supply hub of Omelnyk.

As a result, the distance between the Russian pincers (by nearest grey zone) has now closed to 6.5 kilometres. Both of the highways leading into Orikhiv are only hours' worth of successful attacks from being cut.

The risk of operational encirclement for the AFU can now be considered substantial. Due to reserves seemingly being redeployed into the city to clear it of infiltrators rather than to the flanks, the situation could (but likely will not) soon become catastrophic. Clearing operations must be conducted on the eastern flank ASAP in order to stabilise the situation.

Sumy city direction, Sumy oblast.

Ukrainian forces, in conjunction with their recent clearing operations in the area of Mala Korchakivka, have now launched an opportunistic counterattack to re-enter the town of Yunakivka.

They were able to fully clear the Russian presence in Maryine, officially recapturing the town, before entrenching in the southern part of the town Yunakivka.

This information comes from pro-Russian sources.

Counting down the top 10 clips of the Ukraine war:

Day 10, number 1

British journalist with Russian VDV at Hostomel airport, Kyiv.
Morning of 24 February 2022

The absolute most iconic and the craziest clip of the Ukraine war has to be the number 1 spot.

British CNN reporter Matthew Chance, with his cameraman, captures incredible footage of Russian VDV troops after they had first fully captured Hostomel airport on the outskirts of Kyiv and were about to defend it with their lives to firmly establish an airbridge and allow more units to come in and seize Kyiv.

The reporter, amazingly, had earlier witnessed a gunfight between the Russian VDV and the AFU who were launching a counterattack to take back the airport, or at least make it unusable for the Russians.

There were so many absolutely surreal aspects of this battle. First of all, the elite of the elite Russian VDV being able to fly in helicopters so deep into Ukrainian territory and take control of the airport at all was impressive in itself. Then, during the clip, to see what are presumably civilians in their cars going about their daily business as if nothing is wrong. Then, for the desperate Ukrainian counterattack to disable the runway and then completely retake the airport, significantly delaying the Russian offensive to allow the AFU to regroup, what an absolutely surreal sequence of events.

And for people who were literally waking up to see this video, finding out that Russia had really gone ahead with a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, i can only imagine how insane that must have felt.

Thank you all so much for following along with this series, liking and sharing it. It has been fun and also tragic to go over some of the most memorable events of this conflict.
