Emergency services responding to reports of "explosions and flames" at the Geelong oil refinery, and the blaze is still "not yet under control" after 8 hours of firefighting.

The timing of this — with Australia only weeks away from running out of jet fuel and diesel — is astounding.

The Australian gov recently conducted a tabletop exercise pulling together 300 people across agencies to simulate a response to a multi-crisis situation involving energy shortages, h5 bird flu hitting animals and people, among other factors.

Iran halts ALL petrochemical exports after last week's US-Israeli strikes

Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) has halted its petrochemical exports "until further notice" to prioritize domestic supply, which was disrupted by US-Israeli strikes between February 28 and April 8.

Iran is a major exporter of polymers such as polyethylene and polypropylene, as well as other petrochemical products used to manufacture plastics and a wide range of consumer and industrial goods.

“As you are aware, in view of the current conditions and the damages arising from war and hostile attacks against the country, supporting domestic industries and consumers is of great importance and sensitivity,” Mohammad Motaghi, the NPC’s director of development of downstream industries, said.

Sweden preparing "Energy Rationing", much like UK:

Sweden may need to consider options to reduce energy consumption, including rationing, if the disruption to the flow of fuel supplies continues as a result of the Iran war, the country’s prime minister and finance minister said on on April 23.

Speaking alongside the prime minister, Minister of Finance Elisabeth Svantesson described the situation as “the worst crisis in a very long time, when it comes to energy.”

Kristersson also said the Swedish economy is now in a worse scenario than it was before the conflict.

He echoes what I'd said weeks ago, that the IEA-ordered release of reserves has slowed the impact, but that we're now hitting the end of that:

"We will start to ​see physical shortages," Wirth said, noting that surplus supply in commercial markets, ​tankers in so-called shadow fleets avoiding sanctions, and national strategic reserves were being absorbed.
