To what extent do you agree or disagree with the statement?

It is often predicted that printed materials such as books and newspapers will become obsolete in the near future, as digital content becomes increasingly accessible and often free of charge. While there is no denying the growing dominance of the internet in disseminating information, I partially agree with this statement, as there are still compelling reasons why print media may continue to exist alongside digital formats.

On the one hand, the proliferation of the internet has revolutionised the way people access information. News, articles, and even academic resources can now be obtained instantly and often without cost. This shift has not only reduced the demand for physical newspapers and books but has also transformed the habits of readers. Many individuals now prefer the convenience of digital reading, as it allows for portability, adjustable fonts, and interactive features. Moreover, online platforms often provide real-time updates, which printed materials cannot compete with.

However, it would be an oversimplification to assume that print media will completely disappear. There remains a significant segment of the population who value the tactile experience of holding a book or newspaper. For some, reading on paper reduces eye strain and enhances concentration, especially for long-form reading. Furthermore, printed books hold cultural and emotional significance; they are collected, gifted, and cherished in ways that digital files cannot replicate. Libraries and bookshops, too, serve as community hubs and are unlikely to vanish entirely.

In addition, the credibility of sources plays a crucial role. While online content is vast, it is often unregulated, leading to concerns about misinformation. Printed publications, on the other hand, usually undergo rigorous editorial processes, which can instil greater trust among readers.

In conclusion, although the internet offers numerous advantages in terms of accessibility and cost, it is unlikely to entirely replace printed newspapers and books in the foreseeable future. A more plausible outcome is the coexistence of both formats, catering to different preferences and needs.

✍️ در رایتینگ آیلتس، استفاده درست از punctuation (نشانه گذاری) بسیار مهم است، چون به خوانایی و روانی متن کمک میکند و روی نمره Coherence and Cohesion و Grammatical Range and Accuracy تأثیر میگذارد.

👈 نکات مهم در مورد punctuation در آیلتس
1️⃣ نقطه (.)
برای پایان دادن به جمله های کامل استفاده میشود. اگر به هر دلیل بعد از پایان جمله نقطه گذاشته نشود، خواندن متن دشوار شده و نمره از دست خواهید داد.

مثال:
Many people believe that technology improves our lives. However, some argue that it causes social isolation.

2️⃣ ویرگول (،)
برای جدا کردن اقلام در لیست، عبارات توضیحی، یا بخشهای مختلف جمله استفاده میشود. دقت کنید با ویرگول نمیتوانیم دو جمله را از هم جدا کنیم و حتما باید از نقطه برای این کار استفاده کرد.

مثال:
A healthy lifestyle includes regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient sleep. (لیست)
Climate change, which is caused by human activities, is a global issue. (عبارت توضیحی)

3️⃣ نقطه ویرگول (;)
برای ارتباط دادن دو جمله مستقل اما مرتبط، بدون استفاده از حرف ربط.

مثال:

4️⃣ دونقطه (:)
قبل از لیست یا توضیح بیشتر میآید.

مثال:

5️⃣ علامت سؤال (?)
فقط در جمله های پرسشی مستقیم استفاده میشود. البته بهتر است در رایتینگ آیلتس سوال پرسیده نشود.

6️⃣ علامت تعجب (!)
در رایتینگ آکادمیک آیلتس معمولاً استفاده نمیشود، چون حالت غیررسمی دارد.

7️⃣ آپوستروف (’)
برای نشان دادن مالکیت یا حذف حروف در مخففها.

مثال:
The government’s policies have been effective. (مالکیت)

8️⃣ گیومه (“ ”)
برای نقل قول مستقیم یا اشاره به اصطلاحات خاص.
