Iranian Singer Mehdi Yarahi Flogged for Protest Song

Tehran, Iran – Iranian singer Mehdi Yarahi has reportedly been subjected to 74 lashes as part of a sentence handed down by the judiciary. The punishment stems from his song “Roosarito” (Your Headscarf), which was released in support of Iran’s Woman, Life, Freedom movement.

Yarahi was arrested in August 2023 after the song’s release and was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison, along with a fine and a flogging sentence. Reports indicate that the flogging was carried out recently.

His case is part of a broader crackdown on artists and public figures who have expressed solidarity with anti-government protests following the death of Mahsa Amini in September 2022.

From behind the iron bars of Evin Prison, three imprisoned women raise their voices against war:
“Stand up with your collective power and demand its end.”
Their message is clear — war only brings suffering to the people, not justice or peace.

Destruction at Evin: A Strike on the Home of Iran’s Brightest Minds

Newly released videos circulating on media and social networks reveal the extensive destruction inflicted on Tehran’s Evin Prison. This facility, which holds many political and ideological prisoners, was targeted during Israel’s recent airstrike on Tehran.

No logic, justification, or strategy can ever legitimize the attack on Evin Prison — the home of Iran’s brightest minds, its finest people, and the hostages of the Islamic Republic under the rule of the Supreme Leader.

The Iran Human Rights Society has released a video report exposing extensive destruction at Evin Prison, particularly in Ward 209. This section, which operates under the supervision of the Islamic Republic’s security agencies, has suffered severe damage, with parts of its structure completely collapsed.

The report is based on field footage and verified data.

While state media remain silent, leaked images reveal the intensity of the attacks and growing concerns among families about the fate of the prisoners.

No logic, justification, or strategy can ever legitimize the attack on Evin Prison — the home of Iran’s brightest minds, its finest people, and the hostages of the Islamic Republic under the rule of the Supreme Leader.

While the Islamic Republic tries to present the presence of unveiled women in protests as a sign of public support, the account of a female paramedic , faced with insults and questioning by officers over her clothing exposes the bitter truth of the regime.
Even under bombs, they are afraid of women.

During the Israeli attack on Evin Prison, Dr. S. Makarem, an infectious disease specialist, was severely injured. In a note, she wrote that in those critical moments, it was the political prisoners who saved her life:

“The prisoners could have left, but they stayed and saved me. The same ones I had once treated. They pulled me to the corner of a wall—I was half-conscious. They brought me water. They splinted my leg. They were crying and placed me on a stretcher, saying: You’ve always stood by us—we won’t leave you alone.
My thanks to the prisoners who saved me, and may not even know their names and to Dr. Movahedi who did not leave me behind.”

This is more than a moment of humanity.
It is evidence of the profound moral divide between those in chains and the regime that stood watch from the towers yet in the moment of crisis, abandoned the lives inside.

In the time of attack, dignity was behind bars , and tyranny stood in power.

A group of Iranian civil and political activists has issued a statement titled “No to Tyranny, No to War”, warning against two major threats facing the country: internal authoritarianism and the external risk of military aggression. The statement comes in the wake of recent Israeli and U.S. military operations in the region, which the signatories describe as violations of international law.

“We are deeply concerned for the fate of Iran,” the statement reads, rejecting the regime’s pursuit of nuclear brinkmanship, militarization of natural and human resources, and systematic repression of women, workers, students, and minorities.

The activists advocate for a third path — one that aligns neither with the ruling regime nor with foreign military intervention. Instead, they call for a peaceful transition led by the people themselves, through civil resistance and democratic mechanisms.
