♦️The time has come to declare gender apartheid a crime.

For decades, Iranian women have faced various forms of gender-based discrimination at the hands of the Islamic Republic. Systematically and purposefully, Iranian officials have advanced the subjugation of women, girls and others through the use of all instruments and powers of the state.

Narges Mohammadi in front of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad:
.
“I feel as though a part of me has been left behind on the other side of these cold walls.
I have come to stand in front of the walls of Vakilabad Prison to honor each and every one of my brothers and sisters and to remember those who remain behind these walls.
We must work to turn ‘political prisoner’ into an issue against the Islamic Republic and demand the freedom of all political and ideological prisoners.

Political prisoners must be freed.”

#Khosrow_Alikordi(November 26, 1979 – December 6, 2025) was an Iranian human rights lawyer who represented political prisoners, protesters, and families seeking justice after the 2022 Woman, Life, Freedom uprising. Because of his legal work, he was sentenced to imprisonment, internal exile, and disbarment.

On December 6, 2025, his body was found in his law office in Mashhad. Lawyers, human rights activists, and members of his family have described his death as suspicious, citing signs of bleeding and the confiscation of footage from 16 CCTV cameras in his office by security forces. Many have called his death a state killing.

Today, during a memorial ceremony in Mashhad, prominent civil and political activists ,including Narges Mohammadi and Nasrin Sotoudeh were present. The gathering was violently disrupted by security forces. Attendees chanted #woman_life_freedom ” and « De*th to the dictator ».

Security forces arrested #nargesmohammadi, @nobelprize laureate, along with several other well-known activists.

At Khosrow Alikordi’s gravesite, a large crowd gathered to hear a speech by his brother, Javad Alikordi @javadalikordi Protesters demanded the release of the confiscated surveillance footage from Khosrow’s office, as public pressure continues to mount for transparency and accountability.

Khosrow Alikordi, defended victims of repression in life.
In death, his case has become another symbol of the risks faced by lawyers and human rights defenders in Iran.

Since the beginning of nationwide protests in Iran on 28 December 2025 the people of Iran have shown extraordinary courage and bravery in standing against the dictatorial Islamic Republic regime, paying an extremely heavy price in their struggle for a transition from religious tyranny to democracy, equality and freedom.

The Islamic Republic has responded to these protests with widespread and systematic violence.

Reports indicate thousands have been killed; estimates published by media outlets, based on information from sources suggest a death toll between 5,000 and 20,000 protesters.

According to the latest updates from NetBlocks, the nationwide internet shutdown has entered its 13th day. With over 280 hours of internet disruption, Iran, a country of over 90 million people, remains disconnected from the global network, leaving families and friends unable to communicate or check on their loved ones.

Now, on the 40th day of the illegal detention of Iran’s Nobel Peace Prize laureate and the 24th day of nationwide protests, concerns for the status of political prisoners have increased. Several prominent civil society figures, including Narges Mohammadi, Sepideh Qoliyan, Javad Alikordi, Hasti Amiri, and Pouran Nazemi, were violently arrested and beaten during a memorial service for Khosrow Alikordi on December 12 in Mashhad. They remain in detention under unknown conditions.

The Narges Foundation expresses its deep concern for the fate of all detainees held under dire conditions, especially those facing the imminent risk of execution by a regime built on fear and repression. The international community is responsible for preventing these crimes; every hour of delay could lead to the loss of more lives.
