Suicide of an Inmate at Karaj’s Ghezel Hesar Prison

#Hossei_Jalali, a prisoner held at Karaj’s Ghezel Hesar Prison who had previously been sentenced to 25 years in prison on charges related to “narcotics,” committed suicide by swallowing pills and lost his life.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on Monday, February 26, 2024, an inmate named Hossein Jalali committed suicide at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. He had been serving his sentence in this prison for the past seven months.

Jalali, who had been sentenced to 25 years in prison for drug-related crimes, had spent approximately seven months of his sentence in Unit One of this prison.

A source close to Jalali’s family confirmed the news, stating, “Hossein committed suicide by swallowing pills and lost his life.”
