Raoofeh Mirbagheri Released After Serving Eight Months of Prison Sentence

#Raoofeh_Mirbagheri, a women’s rights activist from Tonekabon, was released on September 15, 2024, after serving eight months of her prison sentence. She spent two months of this period in the prisons of Sari and Tonekabon and the remaining six months under house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor and restricted movement.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Raoofeh Mirbagheri was arrested on October 26, 2022, in Tonekabon and sentenced to eight months in prison on charges of propaganda against the regime.

This women’s rights activist had refused to request government pardon for her protest-related activities regarding women’s rights and was ultimately sentenced to serve this term.
