Sepideh Ghalyan, Civil Activist, Goes on Hunger Strike in Protest Against Her Exile to Evin Prison

#Sepideh_Ghalyan, a civil activist imprisoned in Evin Prison, has gone on a hunger strike in protest against her exile to Evin Prison and the failure to transfer her to the prison in her hometown of Ahvaz.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Ms. Ghalyan began her hunger strike on Wednesday April 3rd, 2024. She was previously arrested on March 15th, 2023, on her way from Tehran to Dezful by security forces following her release due to the issuance of an amnesty decree. She was then transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

She was eventually moved to the women’s ward of Evin Prison and in April 2023, she was sentenced to two years of imprisonment by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of “insulting the leadership,” taking into account her previous detention days.
