Top 10 priority targets to cripple Iran’s path to an atomic bomb and maximize reconstitution difficulty.

These are ranked by impact on fissile material availability, enrichment capacity, and weaponization based on open-source assessments (IAEA reporting, Institute for Science and International Security imagery analysis, satellite tracking through mid-2026). The goal is not temporary damage but severe, multi-year degradation of the material, production, and design base required for a bomb. Knowledge and dispersed personnel cannot be erased by strikes, but without usable highly enriched uranium (HEU), functioning centrifuges, conversion capacity, and weaponization test infrastructure, Iran faces a long, costly, and detectable rebuild under isolation.
Isfahan/Esfahan underground tunnel complex
Primary assessed storage location for the bulk of Iran’s ~440 kg of 60% HEU (enough for multiple weapons if further enriched). Collapsing access, sealing, or otherwise rendering the material inaccessible or unusable is the single highest-leverage action against near-term breakout.
Natanz underground Fuel Enrichment Plant (FEP)
Iran’s largest enrichment site. Entrances and support infrastructure have been hit, but residual material, components, or equipment may remain. Further denial of the underground halls prevents any rapid restart of cascades.
Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant
Deepest hardened mountain enrichment site. Prior heavy penetrator strikes degraded it severely; residual risk of surviving cascades or stored material still requires confirmation of permanent denial.
Pickaxe Mountain (Kuh-e Kolang Gaz La) tunnel complexes
Active underground construction in hard granite near Natanz, deeper than Fordow in places. Assessed as a potential covert reconstitution site for enrichment or storage. Ongoing work makes it a high-priority denial target before it becomes operational.
Isfahan uranium conversion facilities (and related Nuclear Technology Center nodes)
Converts natural or low-enriched uranium into UF6 feedstock for centrifuges. This is a critical bottleneck in the fuel cycle. Residual or rebuilt conversion capacity must be eliminated to starve any future enrichment effort.
Parchin Military Complex / Taleghan 2
Key weaponization site associated with high-explosive testing, containment vessels, and related nuclear weapons development work. Recent repair and reconstruction activity has been observed; neutralizing it directly attacks the non-fissile path to a deliverable device.
Centrifuge manufacturing and assembly sites (Karaj TESA/TABA complex, Natanz workshops, related Isfahan nodes)
Production of rotor tubes, bellows, and cascade components. These have been heavily damaged previously with little visible reconstruction, but any residual machine tools, inventory, or hidden capacity enables recovery of enrichment hardware.
Remaining HEU/LEU storage and support tunnels linked to Natanz and Fordow
Secondary storage or support sites that may hold additional enriched material or critical equipment. Complete accounting and denial prevents Iran from drawing on dispersed stocks.
Weaponization-linked reconstitution sites (including Min-Zadayi-type facilities and residual SPND nodes)
Covert or semi-covert locations used for restoring nuclear weapons technology, high-explosive components, or specialized metallurgy after prior damage. These accelerate the final stages of bomb design and assembly.
Supporting specialized infrastructure (vacuum technology centers, materials science labs, power/transformer nodes dedicated to the above sites, and any remaining yellowcake or conversion-related facilities such as residual Ardakan capacity)
These enable the technical ecosystem. Without reliable power, vacuum systems, advanced materials, and precursor processing, even surviving knowledge and material become far harder to operationalize at scale.
