UK SCHOOL LOCKDOWNS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT?

“Armed intruders, shootings near-by and seagulls have forced schools teaching almost 100,000 pupils into lockdown.

The NASUWT teaching union is calling on the government to introduce “comprehensive, mandatory lockdown guidance in schools”, amid concerns some schools are ignoring advice and ill-prepared for “a potentially violent intruder”.

Digital ID: Company Directors

Note: One Login is the UK's Centralised Digital Identity Platform

There is no truly non-digital route for directors to verify their identity with Companies House after 18th November 2025.

Digital Options available after this date are as follows:

1. Use One Login - start to finish

2. Start with One Login but finish at the Post Office

3. Pay an ACSP (Authorised Corporate Services Provider). It is the same system whether you do it yourself or you pay someone else to do it all ends up in One Login.

After 18th November 2025 filing your Confirmation Statement, your statutory accounts and other documents with Companies House will require you to use One Login to verify your identity.

This could potentially be stopped through a Judicial Review as the rules on how company directors confirm their identity is being set by Companies House and not Parliament or elected officials. This would require crowd funding. See further details on the links below.

Digital ID : Changes to Vehicle Licensing Rules

"From 12 October 2025, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) (has rolled out) one of the biggest overhauls to licence renewal rules in decades — this time focused on drivers aged 62 and above.

The changes bring in compulsory medical and eyesight checks at renewal and reduce the renewal cycle to every three years, allowing for closer monitoring of health and fitness to drive.

New Digital Driving Licence System

The DVLA’s shift toward digital-first renewals is a key part of the 2025 reforms.

Upload medical and eye test certificates online.

Update licence photos without visiting DVLA offices.

Track renewal progress 24/7 via secure login.

Two-factor authentication and facial recognition security to prevent identity fraud.

“The new digital platform is built for accessibility,” said Tom Alston, DVLA’s Digital Services Lead.

Large text, clear instructions, and dedicated phone support make online renewals easier for older users.

Future Plans: Full Digital Transition by 2030

The DVLA has set a roadmap to complete its transition to fully digital licence renewals by 2030, phasing out most paper-based applications.

This means:

Digital licences will replace physical cards for many users.

Health and vision verification will integrate directly with NHS databases.

Driving status can be instantly verified by police or insurers through secure online systems.

From October 2025, over-62 drivers can choose to get a digital driving licence through GOV.UK."

Digital ID : Vehicle Licensing

"The UK is introducing a digital driving licence as part of the new GOV.UK Wallet app, which will allow users to store and present their driving credentials securely on their smartphones.

This digital ID will serve the same functions as the physical photocard, enabling drivers to prove their identity, age, and driving entitlements.

The rollout is scheduled for later in 2025, beginning with the digital Veteran Card in summer 2025, followed by the digital driving licence"

Digital ID : GOV.UK Wallet

"Who can use GOV.UK Wallet?
Central government departments can:
add a document to GOV.UK Wallet
use the information in GOV.UK Wallet

For now, the following will only be able to use the information in the wallet:
the NHS
local authorities
all other public sector organisations

Why use GOV.UK Wallet
GOV.UK Wallet will make it quicker and easier for users to access and share their documents with government and private organisations.

How GOV.UK Wallet works
Any documents added to the wallet will be bound to the proven identity linked to a user’s GOV.UK One Login. That means, for now, a user can only save their own documents in their GOV.UK Wallet.

For security, these digital documents will be stored locally on a user’s phone.

GOV.UK Wallet will only hold government-issued documents.

Using GOV.UK Wallet is entirely optional, and paper or card copies of documents should still be made available.

Adding a document to GOV.UK Wallet
If you’re a central government department, let us know if you have a document that you’d like your users to add to GOV.UK Wallet. We can discuss next steps and answer any questions you may have.

Before you can use the wallet, you must already be using GOV.UK One Login in your service to prove your users’ identity.

What’s in GOV.UK Wallet
Users can currently save a digital version of the HM Armed Forces Veteran Card to the GOV.UK One Login app. This will be followed by the digital driving licence.

In time, GOV.UK Wallet will store government-issued documents to prove a user’s:
identity, for example using their driving licence
eligibility, for example using a veteran card
suitability, for example the outcome of checks needed for some jobs
qualifications, for example a specific professional qualification needed for a job"
