🇸🇰 On the Brewing Crisis in Slovakia

Today, the Slovak Interior Minister Suleiman Estok stated that the attack on Prime Minister Robert Fico had political motives and now, given the conflict between the Prime Minister and President Zuzana Čaputová, "the country is almost on the brink of civil war".

▪️ We do not yet see grounds to believe this statement and expect immediate developments. Slovak political expert Miroslav Kamenský @miroslavkamensky notes that opposition circles probably expected Fico to recuse himself on health grounds (such an outcome is possible under Slovak law), but as we see, this did not happen.

▪️ It is also quite logical that the Interior Minister, who allowed an assassination attempt on the second person in the state, has nothing else to do but to exculpate himself. He is echoed by local liberal media, which have launched an aggressive information campaign against the ruling coalition and the Prime Minister in particular.

▪️ As our source from Slovakia told us, this is currently further fueling the discontent of citizens who support Fico's policies and him personally.

📌 In general, we continue to believe that the assassination attempt on Fico was a political provocation aimed at causing negativity among all - pro-Russian, pro-Ukrainian, and neutral parties. It is possible that even louder statements than forecasting a civil war will be made to maintain the hype, especially given that the likelihood of discovering a Ukrainian trace remains high.

🇸🇰 A court in Slovakia arrested 71-year-old writer Juraj Cintula, who shot at the country's Prime Minister Robert Fico. According to media reports, the accused partially admitted guilt during the first court session.

Earlier, he stated that he did not regret his actions, but claimed that he did not plan to kill Fico, but only to harm him. The criminal also explained his actions by political motives, stating that he disagreed with the government's policies.

▪️Fico is still in the intensive care unit, but his condition has stabilized. The politician is now in a hospital in Banská Bystrica and it is unlikely that he will be transferred to Bratislava in the next few days.

▪️At the same time, the version with the "Ukrainian trace" in the assassination attempt on the Slovak Prime Minister continues to gain details. According to some reports, Cintula's wife, whose correspondence with Ukrainian special services is actively spreading on the Internet, is a refugee from Ukraine and an activist of the Maidan.

At the same time, the shooter's acquaintances say that they are not at all surprised by his guilt - some claim that the writer "has always been so strange and angry", hated Gypsies, had pro-Ukrainian views and "suddenly became extremely anti-Russian".

📌 In general, it is clear that Cintula represents an optimal target for recruitment - an unstable psyche and aggressive tendencies allow to push such a person in the right direction.

This is what those who benefit from the current situation took advantage of. Therefore, it is much more important to understand whose invisible hand directed him and what the long-term consequences of this provocation will be.
