Telegram's New Year update
The Beta versions of Telegram for Android, iOS and macOS have been updated with cool new features:
• Telegram's graphical editor for Android has undergone significant changes. It features new tools for drawing and text editing.
• Media Spoilers: Photos and videos can now be hidden under a spoiler in the same way as text.
• The Data & Memory section has improved cache management by category (e.g., media, files, music). Users can also set up automatic cache deletion in private messages, groups and channels.
• There is now an option to hide group members. When this feature is enabled, only non-anonymous group administrators will be shown in the list. However, the administrators themselves will still be able to see the full list.
• It is now possible to set a profile picture or video that can be seen by those who are not allowed to see the main avatar. In addition, the user may locally set an arbitrary avatar for any of their contacts: this avatar is only visible to the user who set it. You can also offer a picture or video from your address book to be set as your Telegram avatar.
• Other updates include an updated menu for creating contacts in Telegram for Android, the ability to generate QR codes for proxy servers, timecodes in audio files with descriptions on the timeline in Android, and an updated cloud-like counter opposite forums with unread topics. Android users will also notice new animations when clicking a link or navigating to a reply message.

• You can cover photos and videos with a shimmering layer that blurs the image. It will take your recipients one tap to break the spell and see the content.
• In the attachment menu, select one or more items and choose 'Hide with Spoiler'.
Zero Storage Usage
• You can add separate auto-remove settings for cached media from Private Chats, Groups, and Channels – with exceptions for specific chats.
• The new pie charts help visualize what's taking up space, and dedicated tabs for Media, Files and Music let you clear the largest items in just a few taps.
• On iOS, it was greatly reduced the time it takes the app to calculate cache size.
New Drawing and Text Tools
• Telegram's already powerful media editor has been fully redesigned.
• Drawing tools dynamically change width based on drawing speed and automatically smooth your lines.
• There is a new blur tool to redact sensitive data (or photobombers) – and 5 high-precision ways to choose colors, including the Eyedropper tool.
• When adding text to photos or videos, you can now change its size, font, and background.
• Adding custom animated emoji to text on images is available for all users, even if they don't have a Telegram Premium subscription.
• To quickly add shapes like rectangles, circles, arrows, stars, and chat bubbles, tap the “+” button.
• You can also hold the surface to fill the canvas with color – or to erase everything.
• In the coming updates, Telegram plans to further refine the media editor interfaces and improve their performance.
Profile Pictures for Your Contacts
• When editing your contacts, you can choose a picture for them – only you will see it on their profile.
• If you have a good profile picture for your contact, you can suggest it to them. It will take them just two taps to add it to their profile.
• Open a contact's Profile > Edit, then choose 'Set Photo for…' or 'Suggest Photo for…'.
Public Profile Pictures
• You can set visibility to 'Nobody' and add some users or groups as exceptions.
• These settings are available in Settings > Privacy and Security > Profile Photo.
Hiding Group Members
• Admins of groups with 100+ members can now choose to hide the member list. This way, if people don't send messages to the group, only its admins will know they were there.
New Progress Animations on Android
• Smooth new animations have been added when jumping to a faraway reply in a busy chat and to other pages throughout the app.
🌟 New Animated Emojies
• Premium users get 10 new packs of custom animated emoji as a present from Telegram artists.
More Interactive Emoji
• To watch full-screen effects in sync with your chat partner, send a single 🎅🎄☃️💅🗿🆒🤪 in any 1-on-1 chat and then tap on it.
• All these emoji can now be used as reactions – the Moai face will be particularly useful to see off 2022.

This update brings a new power saving mode, optimizes Telegram for lower-end Android devices, adds even more playback speed options, and much more.
Shareable Chat Folders, Custom Wallpapers and More
Telegram for Android, iOS, MacOS, and Unigram were updated to version 9.6. Telegram Desktop was updated to version 4.8.
Share chat folders
• Create invitation links for chat folders to quickly share dozens of chats with other users.
• Users can add a folder and join all the chats in it with a single tap.
• Multiple invitation links can be created for each folder with access to different sets of chats.
• You can add any public chats to folders as well as those private groups and channels where you have administrator rights to invite other users.
• If new chats are added to the public folder and the invitation link is updated, participants will be prompted to join the added chats.
• You can create a folder under Settings > Chat Folders.
Custom Wallpapers
• Use your favorite photos or color combinations as the wallpaper for individual private chats.
• Your chat partner can view the new wallpaper and set it to the same or choose a different one, if desired.
• To set a custom wallpaper for your chat, simply click on the three-dot icon and select "Change wallpaper" from the dropdown that appears.
Better Bots
• Bots with web apps can now be launched from any chat type.
• If bot supports this feature, the web app will be accessible via a direct link or by mentioning the bot's name in any chat on Telegram (inline mode).
• Web applications launched by a group can now offer collaborative or game modes to its members.
Improved Interfaces
• To postpone sending a message until the chat partner is online, just click the send button.
• When creating a group, it is no longer necessary to immediately add members to it.
• On recent iPhones, a new animation has been added while swiping a user, group, or channel profile (the profile picture will slide up and hide in the dynamic island area).

Telegram for Android has been updated to version 10.2.

⭐ Personal colors
• To highlight the individuality of the account, Premium users can choose a personal color or a combination of several colors.
• This color will be used for your name in all groups, as well as the links you send and quotes from your messages in replies.
• You can also choose any adaptive emoji that will be displayed in the background of replies to your messages.
• To set or change your personal color, go to Settings > Chat Settings > Change Name Color (Android) or Settings > Appearance > Name Color (iOS).
• These settings are also available to channels that have reached level 5 or higher by collecting a sufficient number of boosts from subscribers.
Replies 2.0
• Now, when replying, you can quote a certain part of the interlocutor’s message.
• When navigating from a reply, the quoted text in the original message will be beautifully highlighted.

Telegram for Android has been updated to version 10.2.
⚠️ Other Telegram clients will receive the new version soon. The update will likely be rolled out to users gradually.
• To highlight the individuality of the account, Premium users can choose a personal color or a combination of several colors.
• This color will be used for your name in all groups, as well as the links you send and quotes from your messages in replies.
• You can also choose any adaptive emoji that will be displayed in the background of replies to your messages.
• To set or change your personal color, go to Settings > Chat Settings > Change Name Color (Android) or Settings > Appearance > Name Color (iOS).

Today's update lets you quote specific parts of messages when replying, send your replies to other chats, add quote formatting to any text, configure link previews, choose a color for your account, and much more.

Starting today, Telegram channel owners can hold giveaways, randomly distributing prizes among subscribers. This is a great way to advertise your channel, attract new audiences, or reward current subscribers.
Thanks to this, millions of users will be able to win a free Telegram Premium subscription and other prizes, and Telegram will guarantee that the winners were chosen fairly.
⚠️ The new features were enabled on the server side, however we recommend that you update your application to the latest version.
Free Telegram Premium subscription
• Channel owners can create a draw and set the conditions for it with just a couple of clicks.
• On the date set by the channel owner, Telegram will randomly select winners from among users who meet the specified criteria.
• Winners receive gift codes, which can serve as a confirmation of winning in the giveaway.
• Each gift code activates a free Telegram Premium subscription, but organizers can add their own rewards to the subscription.
• For each Premium subscription won, the channel automatically receives 4 boosts.
• These boosts cannot be transferred to another channel — they will remain with the organizing channel for the duration of the distributed free Telegram Premium subscriptions.
Creating a giveaway in a channel
• In addition to the number of winners and the duration of the draw, the organizers, if desired, can limit the number of participants only to new channel subscribers or residents of certain countries.
• Additionally, you can specify additional channels that users need to subscribe to in order to participate in the giveaway.
• Channels of any level can organize a giveaway — to do this, just go to Channel Profile > ⋮ or ⋯ > Statistics > Boosts.
