Telegram for iOS updated to version 7.4 by mistake

Some users, on their iOS devices, may have noticed the release of the Telegram update to version 7.4.

According to information from a source close to Telegram, the update was released by mistake, it will be withdrawn.

Telegram for Android has been updated to version 7.4 and iOS to version 7.4.1

Chat of /r/wallstreetbets subreddit rises its popularity in Telegram

After the ban of the wallstreetbets Discord server, the alternative Telegram chat started rising.

The Voice Chat got full rapidly, in result of what we finally were able to discover the 1,000 voice chat users limit on practice.

Interesting, but the discovered number doesn't match one on the official channel which states the limit is 5,000 users. The most recent information is already published on our Telegram Limits website.

Improved importing and free import API for developers

Pavel Durov made a post about the recent update and disclosed details about the future of the importing tool in Telegram.

«The feature currently imports messages to the end of the target Telegram conversation, but retains the original timestamps of messages. Some folks have been asking whether we can mix the existing messages in a Telegram chat with the imported messages in one unified timeline. This should be possible if the target chat (where you import messages to) has fewer than 100 messages, so we’ve started to work on that.

We’ll also provide free APIs for third-party developers who want to create tools that will allow users to import messages to Telegram from anywhere. Hopefully, such tools will help add support for more apps than this first wave of three – and also allow users to import multiple chats or their entire inbox at once.

Completely delete messages, groups, secret chats and call history for all parties without a trace

In updating Telegram to version 7.4, work has been done to remove messages for both parties.

What's new:
– Calls can be deleted for both parties (even all calls).
– The creator of the group can not only exit (delete for himself), but also delete the group for everyone.
– The creator of the channel can not only exit (delete for himself), but also delete the channel for everyone.
– Secret chat works as usual: messages can be deleted for two parties, and the chat can completely disappear from the interlocutor's list if you delete the chat for two parties (previously it was displayed as "canceled").

Telegram widgets for Android in the next update

Due to some problems, the Telegram update to version 7.4 was released prematurely. Due to this, the developer did not manage to finish several functions. One of them: widgets.

At the moment, two widgets are available to the user:
• Feed of posts from the channel.
• List of selected chats.

The widgets are functional, by clicking you can open the selected chat or post.

The function was unlocked by the developer of an alternative Telegram client for Android - Catogram. At the moment this the function may not work correctly.

Changing how link previews work when editing a message in Telegram Desktop

If you edit a message with the link preview turned off, it (preview) will not appear again if the link is not changed.

Thus, the user does not need to remove the link preview after each post editing.

If the user needs to include a preview of the link while editing, it will help to fully select the text (Ctrl + A), cut (Ctrl + X) and paste (Ctrl + V) back.

Telegram has launched a contest for Android developers

Objective of the competition:
Find and fix flaws in Telegram for Android - glitches, errors, sloppy animations, cases of slow work. Your work should lead to significant and measurable improvements from the user's point of view.

Competition budget: $60,000 for the first round.

Details: On the last day of the competition, compile your version of Telegram and upload the APK to @ContestBot along with a link to the client's fork on GitHub and a description of the improvements implemented.

Delay in AppStore updates and blocking channels for public incitement to violence

As Pavel Durov said, the update Telegram for iOS with bug fixes does not pass Apple's approval for publication in the AppStore because of the channel with the personal data of the security forces.
