• Added spoiler detection via the new has_media_spoiler field in the Message class.
• Bots can send media covered by a spoiler animation via the has_spoiler field in sendPhoto, sendVideo and sendAnimation.

Web Apps
• Added a native QR scanner popup, controllable via showScanQrPopup and closeScanQrPopup.
• Web Apps launched from the attachment menu can request clipboard text via readTextFromClipboard.

Zero Storage Usage

• You can add separate auto-remove settings for cached media from Private Chats, Groups, and Channels – with exceptions for specific chats.

• The new pie charts help visualize what's taking up space, and dedicated tabs for Media, Files and Music let you clear the largest items in just a few taps.

• Check out the new options in Settings > Data and Storage > Storage Usage.

New Drawing and Text Tools

Telegram's already powerful media editor has been fully redesigned:

• Drawing tools dynamically change width based on drawing speed and automatically smooth your lines.
• There is a new blur tool to redact sensitive data (or photobombers) – and 5 high-precision ways to choose colors, including the Eyedropper tool.
• When adding text to photos or videos, you can now change its size, font, and background.
• Adding custom animated emoji to text on images is available for all users, even if they don't have a Telegram Premium subscription.
• To quickly add shapes like rectangles, circles, arrows, stars, and chat bubbles, tap the “+” button.
• You can also hold the surface to fill the canvas with color – or to erase everything.
• In the coming updates, Telegram plans to further refine the media editor interfaces and improve their performance.

Profile Pictures for Your Contacts

• When editing your contacts, you can choose a picture for them – only you will see it on their profile.

• If you have a good profile picture for your contact, you can suggest it to them. It will take them just two taps to add it to their profile.

• Open a contact's Profile > Edit, then choose 'Set Photo for…' or 'Suggest Photo for…'.

Public Profile Pictures

• If you have hidden your profile photo from some users, you can upload a public photo that will be shown to them.

• You can set visibility to 'Nobody' and add some users or groups as exceptions.

• These settings are available in Settings > Privacy and Security > Profile Photo.

Hiding Groups Members

• Admins of groups with 100+ members can now choose to hide the member list.

• If people don't send messages to the group, only its admins will know they were there.

Topics for all chats

Telegram has removed the limit on the number of users in a group for enabling topics.

Now it is no longer necessary to wait for 100 participants in a group to create topics.

For groups linked to channels, topics are still unavailable.

The best and worst features introduced in Telegram in 2022

The year 2022 is coming to an end. During this period, many new features have appeared on the Telegram platform, including the paid subscription Telegram Premium. The main efforts of the development team in the outgoing year were focused on the development of the paid subscription and promotion of the features included in it. However, many free features have also appeared, as well as features that were added in yesterday's update.

High-resolution images in Telegram

The Telegram Desktop source code includes an option to change the value of the kPhotoSideLimit parameter from 1280 to 2560.

This means that Telegram servers already allow for the sending of images at a higher resolution, while clients continue to use the previous compression value.

The @tginfo editorial team hopes that in the future this change will appear on all clients and will also affect not only images but also video. This refers to the possibility of sending 4K video from all clients without compression to 1080p.

VPN and channels in 30 languages

7 years ago our community was born. During this time we have created and developed many different projects.

• 3 years ago, the TON Info (RU) news channel appeared, as well as the Beta Info (RU) channel, where we tell the most loyal fans about new features before they become available in the public stable versions of the Telegram apps. In addition, we continue to work on many other projects.

Changing the name of an emoji and sticker set

The official bot for creating emoji and sticker sets now has the ability to change the name of already created sets.

To do this, go to the conversation with @Stickers and send the /renamepack command.

Remember that in May 2017, usernames became clickable in the names of sets.

Changes in limits

A change in the code of secret chats in the Telegram Android source code has been noticed.

Now, a 64-bit number is used to store document sizes instead of a 32-bit number as previously. The range of integer values that can be stored in 32 bits is from 0 to 4,294,967,295.

Thus, using a 32-bit storage type format for file size, Telegram was not able to provide the ability to send files and media over 4 GB in size, which corresponds to the limit with Telegram Premium.

The Telegram Info editorial team assumes that in the future, the maximum possible size of transmitted files in secret chats will be increased.

Telegram overtakes WhatsApp in Brazil

Telegram has taken first place in the Brazilian iOS App Store in the 'Social Networks' category, according to data from Sensor Tower for January 9th.

This growth is caused by protests against the results of the fall presidential elections. Among the protesters were supporters of the former President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro, who has almost 3 million subscribers in Telegram channel.
