On the occasion of liberation, the government of Afghanistan issued the following statement:
Congratulatory Message of the Islamic Emirate on the Fifth Anniversary of Victory Day
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Five years ago today, on 24 Asad 1400 Solar Hijri (August 15, 2021), through the assistance of Almighty Allah and the struggle and sacrifices of the brave Afghan people, Afghanistan was liberated from the American occupation, and the capital and provinces of the country were retaken by the forces of the Islamic Emirate. Praise and gratitude be to Allah.
On the occasion of this great victory and conquest, we extend our congratulations to our people, the Mujahideen, the relatives and families of the martyrs, widows, and orphans, and we pray to Almighty Allah to forever protect our homeland from occupation, aggression, wars, and insecurity, and to enable our people to enjoy peace, tranquility, and prosperity under the auspices of the Sharia-based government.
It is incumbent upon all Afghans to express their gratitude to Almighty Allah on the occasion of this great victory, to continue making greater efforts toward the realization of the aspirations of Jihad, and to serve their people and homeland in solidarity with their Sharia-based government.
The officials of the Islamic Emirate should also remain increasingly attentive to the religion of Almighty Allah, Sharia law, and the service of the people, interact with their people with the utmost sincerity, affection, and brotherhood, remain mindful of the aspirations of the martyrs, strive to provide care and support for widows and orphans, and make greater sacrifices for the security and prosperity of the people.
Afghanistan seeks to live with all countries of the world in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, does not permit anyone to use Afghan territory against others, and also calls upon other countries not to become involved in any form of conspiracy against Afghanistan and to respect our territory, airspace, and interests.
Once again, we extend our congratulations to our people on the occasion of the victory and pray to Almighty Allah for even greater success in ensuring security, development, and prosperity.

Drones of an unknown origin were reportedly sighted over the remote joint U.S.-U.K. Diego Garcia installation located deep in the Indian Ocean.
This island base has long been a highly strategic operating location for the U.S. military. Beyond its large airfield that has been an epicenter of bomber operations over the decades, it plays many roles for the Pentagon. These include hosting Space Force operations, serving as a key port for U.S. Navy vessels, including nuclear submarines, and its lagoon provides shelter for a Sealift Command Prepositioning Ship Squadron.
The issue of reported drones over Diego Garcia highlights a plausible threat of sea-launched drones that TWZ has been drawing attention to for years now. It also again raises concerns about the danger to critical infrastructure and aircraft parked in the open at Diego Garcia and many other U.S. installations. This is another issue TWZ has been highlighting for years.

The British media has been banned from reporting on the pre-trial hearings in the Teledyne 3 trial, commencing on the 17th of August.
In October 2024, the activists managed to shut down a factory in northern England producing F-35 fighter jet parts. The site’s clean room, vital for building and repairing these components, which were used to carry out an array of atrocities against civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip and Iran, was put out of action for a substantial period of time.
According to hearing transcripts obtained by The Grayzone, the judge warned both defendants and the prosecution that the trio’s potential sentencing as terrorists was “not an issue” and “not part” of the case. Yet the judge has nonetheless forbidden the defendants from raising the issue at all, barred the jury from hearing about it, and blocked the media from reporting it.

Court filings indicate that the Crown Prosecution Service applied to add a “terrorism connected” designation only after the trial concluded.
At no point during the two week trial were the defendants or jury aware that they were engaged in a terrorism trial.
On August 21, a hearing will determine whether the terrorism designation will be applied. Two weeks later, the defendants are due to be sentenced
