๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ The season of multilateral exercises in the Asia-Pacific region is far from over

On July 12, the large-scale "Pitch Black" exercises began in Australia, which will continue until early August.

โ–ช๏ธThese exercises will be the largest ever held. The "Pitch Black" will involve the air forces of 20 countries, located both in the region and quite far from it.

โ–ช๏ธThe main goal of the ongoing maneuvers is to improve the coordination of the air forces of the participants. Pilots will perform tasks of varying complexity, which will also involve the Italian aircraft carrier "Cavour".

โ–ช๏ธIt is noteworthy that the "Pitch Black" exercises also involve European countries such as Italy, Germany, Spain and France. This is part of plans to increase interaction with the region, which are backed by statements by local politicians about the threat from China.

๐Ÿ”ปIt is important to note that "Pitch Black" are the first overseas exercises for the Philippine Air Force since 1963. And although fighters are not used in clashes in the South China Sea, Manila's participation in the exercises is another consequence of its rapprochement with the United States and its allies in the region.

It can be said that the Asia-Pacific region is literally teeming with exercises and training. Somewhere in the western part of the Pacific, Chinese military are also conducting their own maneuvers. All this together only fuels tensions in the region.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Against the backdrop of relative calm that has characterized the situation in the South China Sea this week, extra-regional players have once again conducted exercises in the disputed waters.

The trilateral drills, involving the United States, Italy, and Australia, took place over four days. Washington sent the destroyer USS Russel, Milan sent the aircraft carrier ITS Cavour, the patrol ship ITS Raimondo Montecuccoli and the frigate ITS Alpino, while Canberra sent the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft.

๐Ÿ”ปThe maneuvers focused on combined anti-submarine defense and practicing command and control interoperability skills.

The main goals of the exercises were to strengthen cooperation between the three countries, reaffirm the U.S. commitment to a "free and open Indo-Pacific region", and demonstrate to allies their intentions.

Given that almost every time in response to major exercises in the South China Sea, the PRC sends its ships and planes there, these drills may not be an exception. Therefore, some kind of reaction from the Chinese military can be expected in the near future.
