We cannot assume we have unlimited time to prepare for intelligence greater than our own.
My vision is clear: make human advancement a central priority. Invest in biotechnology, neuroscience, and biophysics to develop stronger minds, more resilient bodies, and greater human independence.
By “superhumans,” I mean people with expanded capabilities: better learning and memory, improved tissue repair, greater resistance to disease, and longer healthy lives. These are research ambitions, with different levels of feasibility—not a package science has already delivered.
If we devote enormous resources to expanding machine capabilities, we should bring comparable ambition to advancing humanity.
But stronger bodies alone will not preserve our freedom. We also need the knowledge, institutions, and practical authority to challenge and control the systems we build. Human enhancement must complement AI safety and accountable governance.
No one knows a deadline for losing control, and enhancement cannot guarantee protection. That uncertainty is a reason to prepare thoughtfully.
The future we build should make humans more capable of shaping their own destiny.
Advance humanity. Preserve human agency.

Think about this for a moment: Why do humans dominate Earth?
Our intelligence—amplified by shared knowledge, technology, and cooperation—allows us to shape the world around us. We decide where other species can live, which habitats survive, and what resources remain available to them.
Now consider the other side of that relationship.
If something becomes far more intelligent than humanity, with the resources and freedom to act, could the same imbalance of power apply to us?
We cannot assume that the advantage that placed us in control will always belong to us. Creating a superior intelligence would not automatically guarantee our ability to govern it.
And harm would not require hatred. Humans can destroy an animal’s habitat simply by pursuing goals that overlook its existence. A more powerful intelligence could similarly endanger us if human needs did not meaningfully constrain its actions.
This is a warning about a possibility, not a prediction of inevitable catastrophe.
We must strengthen human capabilities and preserve our ability to understand, challenge, and redirect the systems we build.
The intelligence that gave us dominance should also help us recognize how we could lose it.

⚠️ Worried that AI could one day overtake humanity?
Building safer AI is essential—but it may not be enough. As artificial intelligence grows more capable, humanity must evolve alongside it.
The long-term strategy should include developing stronger humans:
🧬 Biologically — longer healthy lives, disease resistance, cellular repair and greater resilience.
🧠 Mentally — stronger cognition, memory, creativity, intuition and wisdom.
💪 Physically — greater strength, endurance, adaptability, protection and recovery.
🏛️ Institutionally — humans must continue defining civilization’s goals, controlling critical infrastructure and retaining final authority.
The objective is not to destroy or suppress AI. It is to ensure that AI’s creators remain capable of understanding, directing and controlling what they create.
