طبق آمار مرکز مطالعات دینی در آمریکا در سال 2014، 23% از افرادی که مسلمان بوده‌اند از اسلام خارج شده و خود را مسلمان نمی‌دانند و 22% از افرادی که مسیحی به دنیا آمده‌اند بعد از مدتی از مسیحیت خارج می‌شوند. این در حالی است که آمار نومسلمانان آمریکایی نیز 23% می‌باشد در حالی که آمار افرادی که به مسیحیت گرایش پیدا می‌کنند فقط 6% است. طبق تحقیقاتی که در سال 2017 صورت گرفته است، یک پنجم افرادی که از اسلام خارج شده‌اند، دلایل خاص خود را داشته‌اند. مثلاً حدود 9% اگر چه در یک خانواده مسلمان به دنیا آمده و رشد پیدا کرده بودند، هیچ ارتباطی بین خود و دین و اعتقادشان نیافته بودند. حدود 7% دلیل خود را نارضایتی از تعلیمات و آموزه های اسلامی بیان کردند و حدود 16% ابراز علاقه به دیگر مکاتب فلسفی را دلیل ترک اسلام عنوان کرده اند...

✅ Boston police’s social media surveillance unfairly targeted Muslims, ACLU says
A social media monitoring tool used by the Boston Police Department to identify potential threats swept up the posts of people using the hashtag #MuslimLivesMatter and a lawmaker’s Facebook update about racial inequality, according to a report released Wednesday by the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts.
The ACLU says in a report based on documents obtained through a public records request that the police department’s use of Geofeedia to mine the internet appears to have had little benefit to public safety while unfairly focusing on groups such as Muslims. Boston police say the ACLU’s conclusions are misguided and that the program helped police successfully monitor events that could lead to demonstrations or crowds and threaten security...

Texas pastor Bob Roberts has traveled to Washington before for the National Prayer Breakfast, a Christian-organized networking event where evangelicals come to schmooze about topics including their shared goal of bringing people to Christ. This year, he’ll attend with one of his closest current collaborators: an 85-year-old Islamic scholar visiting from Abu Dhabi.
Roberts and Shaykh Abdallah Bin Bayyah are attending the Thursday breakfast following an unusual gathering that was held during the previous three days: Four hundred faith leaders coming together to forge ties, work that has been common for many U.S. faith groups for decades but often has eluded one particular pair: Muslims and evangelicals.
White evangelicals have the most anti-Muslim views of any American faith group, polls show, and the meeting reflects the urgency an increasing number of imams and pastors feel at a time when the world seems especially tribal and explosive.

Many Canadians pride themselves on being more multicultural and less suspicious of minorities than Americans, but new public opinion research being aired today in Montréal at a McGill Institute for the Study of Canada conference finds that Canadians are more likely than Americans to favour banning Muslim women from wearing their head scarfs in public places.
Université du Québec à Montréal political science professor Allison Harell presented a raft of results from a recent online survey of 1,600 Canadians and 1,800 Americans that tried to probe views related to the upswing of populism in the U.S., including attitudes towards the powers of government and the rights of minorities.

در این نشست، پروفسور الیور شاربروت، استاد مطالعات اسلامی در دانشگاه بیرمنگام با نگاهی تاریخی به سیر مطالعات شیعی در بریتانیا اشاره کرده و در سخنانی به اوج گرفتن تحقیقات شیعی بعد از پیروزی انقلاب اسلامی تا کنون پرداخت.
ایشان مطالعات شیعه‌پژوهی در بریتانیا را در سه سرفصل شامل دانشگاه‌ها و محافل آکادمیک، مراکز و مؤسسات غیر‌دانشگاهی و مراکز و محافل حوزوی و تربیت مبلغ و طلبه دینی تقسیم‌بندی نموده و ضمن مقایسه آنها با یکدیگر، بر لزوم گسترش علمی و آکادمیک معرفی ابعاد مختلف تشیع و جوامع شیعی در جهان غرب تأکید نمود.

IRIC was proud to host a meeting with Dr. Oliver Scharbrodt on the topic entitled “Shia studies in UK, current situation and future prospects “on 27th February 2018. The meeting started with the introduction of Dr. Oliver Scharbrodt, Professor of Islamic Studies of the University of Birmingham, by Dr. Safavi, the Director of the IRIC.
Dr. Scharbrodt delivered his presentation and gave an overview of researches which is done and the institutions involved in the study of Shia Islam in UK. According to him, before the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, Shia Islam wasn't a very significant topic of researches.
Dr. Scharbrodt proceeds his lecture introducing: academic centers which do research on Shia studies at British universities such as Exeter, Edinburgh, Durham, …؛ tertiary Shia educational institutions in Britain such as Islamic College of London, International College of Islamic Sciences and al-Mahdi Institute؛ academic outreach initiatives such as: Center for Academic Shia Studies and Center for Islamic Shia Studies.
Following Dr. Scharbrodt lecture, Dr. Mousavi, one of the researchers in IRIC, introduced IRIC project entitled “Shia studies in western academia” and elaborated the aims, scope and outcome of the research and then she and Dr. Fatemeh Taromi, the lecturer of IRIC, gave a brief report on the project.
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere so that the participants had the chance to raise their questions, all of which was warmly welcomed by Dr. Oliver Scharbrodt.

گروهی از کارشناسان مرکز اطلاعات و تحقیقات اسلامی در کنفرانسی که توسط دانشگاه المصطفی العالمیه در تاریخ 7 فوریه 2018 و با عنوان "دورنما و چالش های اسلام در اروپا" در شهر قم برگزار گردید شرکت نموده و ضمن حضور در مباحثات صورت گرفته از نزدیک با تعدادی از اساتید خارجی شرکت کننده در کنفرانس گفتگو نمودند.

On Wednesday, 7 February 2018, a group of IRIC experts participated in the international conference of "Islam in Europe: Perspectives and Challenges" which was hosted by al-Mustafa University, in Qom.
The conference was attended by a group of scholars in the area of Islamic studies from Europe including Britain, Italy, Czech Republic and the Netherlands. In the morning session, Ayatollah Haadavi from al-Mustafa University delivered his presentation on extremism and Islamophobia in Europe. The session was followed by the lecture of Professor Robert Gleave from the University of Exeter, entitled “Islamic Extremism and Counter-Terrorism: Some recent cases in English Law”.
Professor Andrew Newman from the University of Edinburgh was the other keynote speaker who delivered his lecture under the title of “Scottish Shi’i Voices: A Minority in a Minority in a Minority”.
The specialized panels were held in the afternoon session under two titles; Unity and Islamophobia...

انجمن مسلمانان بریتانیا از چهارمین دوره روز بازدید از مساجد خبر داد. درهای بیش از دویست مسجد در سراسر انگلستان در این روز برای بازدید عموم باز گردید. در سال 2015 شورای مسلمانان بریتانیا این طرح را با هدف آشنا کردن بازدید‌کننده‌ها با امکانات و فعالیت‌های مساجد محلی و آگاهی پیدا کردن از ارزش‌های اخلاقی و اعتقادات مسلمانان تصویب کرد و در طی این مدت، بازدید افراد مختلف از مساجد روحیه تعامل و همکاری را بین اقشار مختلف به وجود آورده است. شخصیت‌های برجسته‌ای همچون نخست وزیر بریتانیا خانم ترزا مِی و یا شهردار لندن صادق خان از مهمانان بازدید‌کننده از مساجد بوده‌اند...

The Muslim Association of Britain (MAB) is pleased to report that the 4th consecutive Visit My Mosque day on Sunday was once again, a resounding success.
With over 200 mosques across the UK opening their doors to the public in an initiative launched by the Muslim Council of Britain in 2015 under the theme: Open Doors, Open Mosques, Open Communities, thousands were welcomed into their local mosques to get to know more about the facilities and the activities that take place within them, as well as the belief and ethical values that drive their respective congregations.
The day saw the Prime Minister Theresa May, Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn and London Mayor Sadiq Khan, along with countless MPs, Councilors, Mayors and Faith leaders, pay a visit to their local mosques and meeting with their local congregations...
