Regime Efforts to Shift Blame for Civilian Mass Killings

State broadcaster IRIB has released a video featuring an individual presented as a forensic medicine expert purporting to explain the fatal shooting of protesters. In the video, he asserts that the gunfire originated from elevated positions and speculates that shooters—allegedly aware of protest schedules—used unfinished buildings to target demonstrators.

These assertions exceed the bounds of legitimate forensic analysis. Rather than offering scientifically grounded findings, the commentary advances a security-oriented narrative premised on conjecture and speculation. The video appears to form part of a broader, coordinated effort by state authorities to construct an alternative account in which armed elements within the protests are blamed for civilian massacre—thereby deflecting responsibility from state security forces for the killing of hundreds of protesters.

Even amid a near-total internet shutdown and severe restrictions on international communications, mounting documentation continues to emerge evidencing widespread and systematic lethal force against civilians. Responsibility for these acts rests with the Islamic Republic of Iran and its senior leadership, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Under international law, such responsibility cannot be evaded through propaganda, mischaracterization of evidence, or delay; accountability is both necessary and unavoidable.

Unconfirmed Report: At Least 150 Bodies Reported at Tehranpars Hospital

According to a local source, at least 150 bodies were present at Tehranpars Hospital in recent days. The source claims the bodies are linked to the recent protests and the violent crackdown that followed.

It is important to emphasize that we are currently unable to independently verify this information. Due to severe restrictions on access to information, widespread internet disruptions, and the absence of independent observers, confirmation from reliable external sources is not possible at this time.

A reliable source has shared deeply disturbing accounts of the ongoing crackdown on protesters in Isfahan with the IHRDC. According to this source, during one incident, a young man and woman were apprehended by security forces while participating in a peaceful demonstration. One officer reportedly placed a gun to the young man’s head, threatening to kill him. In a state of terror, the young man closed his eyes and recited his prayers, while the officer shockingly shot the young woman in the leg before leaving the scene calmly.

In a separate case, a local shop owner discovered four unidentified bodies inside their store. It remains unclear who placed the bodies there.

These reports, emerging amid a near-total internet shutdown and severe restrictions on international communications, underscore the extreme risks faced by civilians exercising their right to peaceful protest. They also point to acts that constitute large-scale crimes against humanity by the Islamic Republic’s security forces. The regime, its officials, and agents must be held accountable for these violations and atrocities.

Shocking New Footage from Kahrizak Forensics

Freshly released videos reveal the horrifying sight of hundreds of protesters’ bodies at Kahrizak Forensics.

In the first video, hundreds of corpses are shown strewn across a warehouse, while families desperately search among them for their loved ones.

The second video shows some of these bodies, likely identified by families, being moved outside the warehouse and loaded onto a small truck.

Nighttime photos and a third video show a refrigerated truck being unloaded, with groups of people witnessing the bodies being carried out, now lying outside the facility.

These releases come amid ongoing nationwide internet blackouts and blocked international communications. While access inside the country remains virtually impossible, this footage offers a glimpse into the grim reality of the Islamic Republic’s brutal crackdown.

The international community cannot remain silent. Those responsible—leaders and agents of this regime—must be held fully accountable for these atrocities.

Ardeshir Zarei Killed by Direct Gunfire from Repressive Forces During Protests

Ardeshir Zarei, born in 1985, son of Rahman, originally from the village of Darvit and a resident of the city of Saveh, was killed on Monday after being shot directly by regime repressive forces during the ongoing protests in Iran. He was a follower of the Yarsan faith, a member of the working class, and the father of three young children named Daniel, Mardin, and Bania.

According to reports received, Ardeshir Zarei suffered from a heart condition and, on the day of the incident, had visited a medical specialist before going to a pharmacy to obtain his medication. While standing by the street near the pharmacy, he was shot from behind with live ammunition. The shooting is reportedly described as a “final shot” and carried out as part of the violent crackdown on protesters and civilians by security forces.

This incident occurred amid numerous reports indicating that regime repressive forces, during nationwide protests, have targeted unarmed civilians using live ammunition and direct gunfire. The killing of Ardeshir Zarei is yet another example of the deadly violence inflicted on ordinary people who had no involvement in any armed confrontation.

Ardeshir Zarei’s funeral is scheduled to be held tomorrow in his birthplace, the village of Darvit.

Families Face ‘Bullet Fees’ or Basij Registration to Reclaim Loved Ones’ Bodies

Exclusive Report: A credible source with direct local contacts has confirmed that families of Yarsani citizens killed during the recent protests have been subjected to specific conditions in order to reclaim the bodies of their killed relatives. According to this source, authorities have demanded payments ranging from 700 million to 1 billion tomans (approximately $5,000–$7,000) as so-called “bullet fees” for the release of the bodies.

The source further reports that in cases involving Yarsani victims, families were presented with a stark choice: either pay the required fee or consent to the issuance of a Basij membership card for the deceased. In practical terms, families were reportedly compelled to declare that their loved one was affiliated with the Basij, or face the obligation to pay the bullet fee to obtain the body.

In one confirmed instance, the father of Ardeshir Zarei, a Yarsani citizen killed in Saveh, Markazi Province, on January 9, 2026, was confronted with these two options. Out of desperation, he reportedly agreed to declare his son a “Shahid” (martyr), an official designation used by the regime indicating the deceased was not a protester but had died in service to the state.

According to the same source, this practice appears designed to artificially inflate the number of official government casualties and to support the regime’s narrative attributing mass deaths to protesters rather than security forces.

While independent verification of these claims remains extremely difficult due to stringent information restrictions, the source’s direct local access and detailed knowledge raise serious concerns regarding systematic coercion, manipulation of victims’ identities, and grave violations of the dignity and rights of bereaved families.

Alarming Conditions and Risk to Detainees at Greater Tehran Prison

Many individuals arrested during recent protests have reportedly been transferred to Greater Tehran Prison, where conditions are described by an informed source as critically and unprecedentedly severe.

Prison guards have allegedly been forced to remain on continuous duty for up to a week without leave. A significant presence of prison officials, judiciary security forces, and special police units has been reported. Mohammad Amir Dehestani, Deputy Prosecutor and Acting Deputy Head of the Tehran District 16 Prosecutor’s Office, is said to be present at the facility, with reports indicating the fabrication of cases against detainees.

According to the source, Ward 6 has been evacuated and prisoners from Ward 5 transferred there, leading to extreme overcrowding and the collapse of standard capacity limits. Newly detained individuals—predominantly young people arrested during recent protests—are also being sent to Ward 6.

Detainees are reportedly subjected to severe and inhumane treatment, including the use of tasers to the head and neck, tear gas fired directly at individuals, violent beatings upon admission, and denial of medical care despite serious injuries.

Living conditions are described as critical, with acute food shortages, poor-quality meals, and extreme overcrowding. Food portions intended for 10 prisoners are reportedly being shared among 15, and only those able to pay can access additional food. Some sections are said to hold approximately 230 detainees.

In light of the 2009 killings of detainees at Kahrizak Detention Center, these developments have raised serious concerns that individuals currently held at Greater Tehran Prison may face a real risk to their lives. The current conditions underscore the urgent need for international scrutiny and action to ensure the protection of detainees and to hold responsible authorities accountable for any violations of fundamental human rights.

Urban Intimidation by Armed Forces Across Iran

As Iran’s digital blackout reaches one week, videos documenting the Islamic Republic’s heavy military response to protests continue to emerge. A clear and recurring pattern is the extensive presence of security forces in multiple cities, apparently enforcing curfews and aiming to instill fear and intimidation among civilians.

One video shows the streets of Mashhad (Razavi Khorasan) on the evening of January 13, 2026. Security vehicles are parked along streets, while personnel on foot and riding motorcycles are visible across different parts of the city. Due to low nighttime lighting, details are limited.

Another video from Shahsavar (Tonekabon), Mazandaran Province, dated January 10, 2026, depicts individuals in IRGC uniforms riding motorcycles and driving Toyota Hilux pickup truck while carrying weapons and heavy machine guns. Police (FARAJA) vehicles and personnel, similarly armed, are also visible. At least one armored vehicle appears with a group of armed men positioned on its roof. The convoy includes at least one ambulance and several additional vehicles.

Observers describe these deployments as a deliberate attempt by the regime to deter public gatherings, suppress protests, and instill fear and intimidation across urban areas.

Prison-Style Phone Call Limits Reported Inside Iran

A number of Iranians abroad report that they can speak with their families and loved ones inside Iran for only one to three minutes, after which the calls are automatically disconnected. This system is similar to prison-style phone call controls, where communication is tightly restricted, monitored, and abruptly cut off.

The pattern has drawn comparisons to prison practices, where phone calls are typically cut off before executions, and limited contact is permitted only afterward for remaining prisoners. In practical terms, this suggests that following the mass killings, the Islamic Republic has extended a system of detention-style communication control to the entire population.
