Eyewitness from Arak: 70 Eye Injuries and at Least 200 Killed in One Day

A video has circulated showing a high level of violence by security forces against protesters and civilians. The footage is reported to have been recorded around January 10, 2026, or in the days leading up to that date, in Haft-Hoz Square, Narmak, south of Sarsabz Intersection, in Tehran (Tehran Province).
The video shows a young man suffering severe bleeding from a gunshot wound to the leg. Voices can be heard as bystanders attempt to stop the bleeding; one person says they do not have a belt, while another removes their belt to use it as a tourniquet to help save the injured man’s life.
A green laser light is also visible in the footage. Previously, a witness told the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center that security forces use laser lights to aim at and target protesters. The witness reported that during demonstrations people warned each other: “If you see a green laser, immediately lie down so you won’t be shot.”
Due to the severe internet restrictions and ongoing shutdown in Iran, the circulation of images has been limited. As a result, independent verification of the exact time and location is not possible; however, available evidence indicates that the footage is related to recent protests in Iran.

The video shows a young man suffering severe bleeding from a gunshot wound to the leg. Voices can be heard as bystanders attempt to stop the bleeding; one person says they do not have a belt, while another removes their belt to use it as a tourniquet to help save the injured man’s life.
A green laser light is also visible in the footage. Previously, a witness told the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center that security forces use laser lights to aim at and target protesters. The witness reported that during demonstrations people warned each other: “If you see a green laser, immediately lie down so you won’t be shot.”
Due to the severe internet restrictions and ongoing shutdown in Iran, the circulation of images has been limited. As a result, independent verification of the exact time and location is not possible; however, available evidence indicates that the footage is related to recent protests in Iran.

Expansion of Judicial Prosecution Against Protest Supporters; Assets Seized and Businesses Shut Down
The Tehran Prosecutor’s Office has announced that, as part of ongoing measures against nationwide protests, criminal cases have been opened against 15 athletes and artists, 10 signatories of the House of Cinema statement, and 60 business units on charges of supporting the protests, with the assets of some individuals seized. According to state-affiliated media, judicial authorities claim that this support played a “provocative role” in the unrest and that, in some cases, courts may issue orders requiring defendants to pay compensation for alleged damages.
These actions come as protest gatherings, strikes by shopkeepers, and the closure of business units began in Tehran in early January and later spread to markets and commercial centers in other cities. Similar judicial actions against well-known figures, artists, and business owners who supported protests have occurred in previous years, including summonses, work bans, asset seizures, and forced closures. Among recent cases is the arrest of Mohammad Saeedi-Nia, owner of the Saeedi-Nia café chain. Judicial officials have stated that all of his cafés and restaurants have been sealed and that steps have been taken toward the confiscation of his assets.
In recent days, it was also reported that Reza Shekari, a Persepolis FC player, and Omid Ravankhah, head coach of Iran’s U-23 national team, were briefly detained at Tehran’s international airport upon returning to Iran, reportedly due to their support for the protests.
Human rights observers say these developments reflect an expansion of repression beyond street protesters, aimed at exerting economic and social pressure on protest supporters—measures that may constitute violations of freedom of expression, the right to peaceful protest, and the prohibition of collective punishment.

گسترش پیگرد قضایی علیه حامیان اعتراضات؛ توقیف اموال هنرمندان، ورزشکاران و پلمپ واحدهای صنفی
دادستانی تهران اعلام کرده است که در ادامه برخورد با اعتراضات سراسری، علیه ۱۵ چهره ورزشی و هنری، ۱۰ امضاکننده بیانیه خانه سینما و ۶۰ واحد صنفی به اتهام حمایت از اعتراضات پرونده قضایی تشکیل شده و اموال برخی از آنها توقیف شده است. به گزارش رسانههای حکومتی، مقامات قضایی مدعیاند این حمایتها نقش «محرک» در ناآرامیها داشته و در برخی پروندهها، امکان صدور حکم پرداخت خسارت نیز مطرح شده است.
این اقدامات در حالی صورت میگیرد که تجمعات اعتراضی، اعتصابات کسبه و تعطیلی واحدهای صنفی از اوایل دیماه در تهران آغاز شد و طی روزهای بعد به بازارها و مراکز تجاری دیگر شهرها گسترش یافت. از جمله این موارد در اعتراضات اخیر می توان به بازداشت محمد ساعدینیا، مالک مجموعه کافههای ساعدینیا، خبر داده است. بنا بر اظهارات مقامات قضایی، تمامی کافهها و رستورانهای او پلمپ شده و اقدامات لازم برای مصادره اموال او تیز انجام گرفته است. همچنین در روزهای گذشته گزارش شد که رضا شکاری، بازیکن پرسپولیس، و امید روانخواه، سرمربی تیم ملی امید، در بازگشت به ایران و بهدلیل حمایت از اعتراضات، برای ساعاتی در فرودگاه بینالمللی تهران بازداشت شده بودند. در سالهای گذشته نیز برخورد قضایی با چهرههای شناختهشده، هنرمندان و فعالان اقتصادی که از اعتراضات حمایت کردهاند، سابقه داشته و شامل احضار، ممنوعالکاری، توقیف اموال و تعطیلی واحدهای صنفی بوده است.
ناظران حقوق بشری میگویند این روند نشاندهنده گسترش سرکوب فراتر از معترضان خیابانی و تلاش برای اعمال فشار اقتصادی و اجتماعی بر حامیان اعتراضات است؛ اقدامی که میتواند مصداق نقض آزادی بیان، حق اعتراض مسالمتآمیز و مجازات جمعی تلقی شود.
