A fortieth-day memorial ceremony was held on Wednesday, February 18, for three members of one family: Bijan Mostafavi, Zahra Bani Amerian, and Danial Mostafavi.

Bijan Mostafavi, a 55-year-old retired education worker, Zahra Bani Amerian, a 48-year-old retiree of the Social Security Organization, and their 19-year-old son, Danial Mostafavi, a computer science student, were killed on Friday, January 9, 2026, during nationwide protests in Gohardasht, a district of Karaj in Alborz province, when their vehicle was reportedly struck by gunfire from state security forces. The family’s older son, Davoud Mostafavi, 27, was seriously wounded and transferred to hospital.

According to reports, the family located and identified the bodies the following day at the Kahrizak morgue in Tehran. Sources indicate that security officials conditioned Davoud Mostafavi’s release from hospital on the burial of his family members without a public ceremony and before sunrise. The victims, originally from Sonqor in Kermanshah, were ultimately buried in Sonqor Koliai under heavy security measures.
