According to a report received by the Human Rights Documentation Center, Omid Bagheri, a 34-year-old resident of Arak in Markazi Province, died on 8 January 2026, after being struck in the head by live ammunition.

According to the report, his family searched for him for four days before they were able to retrieve his body from the morgue of Arak’s Behesht-e-Zahra cemetery. Security agents reportedly told the family that he had been killed by "terrorists".

The report indicates that the family was forced to bury him at night in his ancestral village.

Due to restrictions on access to information and the prevailing security conditions imposed on the families of killed citizens, independent verification of all details of these reports is currently not possible.
