According to a report received by the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center, Mohammadreza Hosseinaei, a 29-year-old resident of Kerman in Kerman Province, was arrested on January 14, 2026, following a raid by approximately 30 armed agents on his home in the city. The report states that the agents entered the residence without presenting a warrant and threatened family members while creating an atmosphere of intimidation. During the arrest, his 85-year-old grandmother was also subjected to threatening and abusive treatment. It is further reported that he was beaten and subjected to physical violence at the time of arrest.

Mr. Hosseinaei has reportedly been charged with involvement in the “unrest” of December 29 and January 8 and 9, alleged connection to an arson incident in Shahrak-e-Bahonar, possession of items such as gasoline, thinner, and burlap sacks, activity on social media as an administrator of a group, and claims that 26 individuals have testified against him in the case.

According to the report, Mr. Hosseinaei has been held for about 30 days in the custody of IRGC Intelligence and has been subjected to severe psychological pressure during this period. Reports indicate that despite being promised release, he was compelled to accept and sign the charges. These circumstances have raised serious concerns about the possibility of forced confessions and violations of fair trial standards.
