Amir Shahidi, father of Mehrshad Shahidi, who was killed during the nationwide protests of 2022, was arrested by security forces in the city of Arak in Markazi Province on March 3, 2026.

According to the Committee for Follow-Up on the Situation of Detainees, as of the time of this report, no official information has been released regarding his place of detention, the reasons for his arrest, or any charges brought against him. His family also remains unaware of his current condition and whereabouts.

The arrest took place amid ongoing war conditions, nationwide closures, and widespread internet shutdowns—circumstances that have severely restricted access to information and heightened serious concerns about the safety and well-being of prisoners and detainees.
