In the most recent incidents, in the early hours of Friday, March 20, several Kurdish citizens were arrested in Mahabad, West Azerbaijan Province, by security forces. According to reports, Jalal Alavi, a resident of Kouseh-Kahriz village, along with Vahab Hosseinzadeh, were detained without a judicial warrant and taken to undisclosed locations. Additionally, Huyar Zahabi, a 21-year-old from Mahabad, was arrested during a raid on a relative’s home. These arrests reportedly took place without official explanation, and no information about their current condition has been made available.
On the night of Thursday, March 19, Reza Dalman, a 24-year-old student at Sharif University of Technology, was arrested at his home by intelligence agents. Reports indicate that the charge against him relates to hanging a mouse doll from a tree. In the context of recent protests, the image of a mouse has been used as a form of political expression referring to Ali Khamenei, with activists using it to mock him as hiding underground during periods of unrest. It is also reported that information about his identity had been relayed to security authorities through the student Basij.
Earlier, on the night of Wednesday, March 18, Nima Hemmati and Mahan Hemmati, two Kurdish brothers, were arrested in Isfahan by security forces. Their vehicle was stopped, and they were detained without a warrant before being transferred to a detention facility run by the Intelligence Ministry in Isfahan Central Prison. Mahan Hemmati is 17 years old and a high school student, while Nima Hemmati is a graduate student.
Also on March 18, Manouchehr Aghabeigi, a board member of the Teachers’ Trade Association in Kermanshah, was arrested by security forces. According to available reports, he has not been able to contact his family since his detention, and his condition remains unknown. This has raised particular concern given his pre-existing heart and vascular conditions.
In Mashhad, Ahmad Rahimi, a physician and former university professor, along with his wife, Soheila Hosseini, were arrested at their home on the same date.
