Azar Yahoo, a 38-year-old resident of Mashhad, was arrested by intelligence forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on March 5, 2026, and transferred to Vakilabad Prison, where she is reportedly being held in Ward 6.
According to available information, security authorities have brought charges against her, including cooperation with Israel and acting against national security. These charges are reportedly based on her social media activity, including the use of heart emojis in response to posts featuring certain foreign political figures, as well as allegations that she was present in public following the announcement of the Supreme Leader’s death. Such actions, even if substantiated, are not clearly defined as criminal offenses under Iranian law.
Reports further indicate that since her arrest, Azar Yahoo has been denied contact with her family and has not been granted access to legal counsel. The status of her case, as well as the judicial proceedings against her, remains unclear.
