According to a report received by the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center, around 11 a.m. on April 1, 2026, agents of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) conducted raids on two separate homes in Shiraz, resulting in the arrest of Baha’i citizens Behzad Basiri, 37, and Mandana Sotoudeh, 37. The arrests reportedly occurred without a judicial warrant.
According to the report, the IRGC first entered the couple’s residence, where only Behzad Basiri was present, and detained him on site. They later went to Mandana Sotoudeh’s mother’s home to arrest her. Both the couple’s home and her mother’s home were searched during the operation. Personal belongings and electronic devices belonging to the couple were seized.
Sources indicate that Mandana Sotoudeh’s mother’s home had already been searched three days earlier during the arrest of Mahsa Sotoudeh, 25, Mandana’s sister, yet agents conducted another search during this visit for reasons that remain unclear.
Mahsa Sotoudeh was arrested on March 29 following a separate IRGC raid on the family home. Family electronic devices were confiscated, and she was transferred to an undisclosed location.
Behzad Basiri and Mandana Sotoudeh have also been taken to an unknown location. No information has been released regarding their condition, the charges against them, or the circumstances of their detention.
