In the early hours of Thursday, April 23, 2026, the execution of Soltanali Shirzadi Fakhr, a political prisoner and former member of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK), was carried out by the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic. The sentence was implemented following its confirmation by the Supreme Court.

Mizan News Agency, the media outlet affiliated with the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic, announced the execution, stating that he had been sentenced to death on charges including membership in the MEK, cooperation with Israeli intelligence services, and "waging war against God" (Moharebeh). According to this report, he had left Iran in the 1980s, joined the organization, and allegedly took part in some of its activities and operations. It was further claimed that he was arrested upon returning to Iran after years of residence abroad.

According to human rights reports, the execution was carried out amid serious concerns regarding due process violations, including a lack of transparency in judicial proceedings, denial of access to independent legal counsel, and the possible use of coerced confessions. No official information has been released regarding the exact location of the execution.
