According to a report by Tavaana, three individuals arrested during the January 2026 uprising, Mohammadreza Tabari, Dr. Mohammadreza Abdollahpour, and Amirmohammad Zare, are facing an imminent risk of execution. The three prisoners are currently being held in Qezel Hesar Prison, and reports indicate that they remain deprived of family visits and phone contact.

According to the published information, the death sentences issued against the three detainees have been upheld by Branch 9 of Iran’s Supreme Court. Sources close to the cases state that the defendants were denied access to lawyers of their own choosing throughout the judicial process and were represented solely by court-appointed attorneys. The same sources report that there has been no independent access to the case files or judicial proceedings.

Reports indicate that the three prisoners have been accused of charges including “espionage,” “murder,” and “waging war against God” (moharebeh). Meanwhile, the transfer of other detainees who had previously been held alongside them in the same prison suite to different wards has heightened concerns that the death sentences could be carried out without prior notice.

Mohammadreza Tabari, who was arrested during the January protests in Tehran, had previously been sentenced to death by a Revolutionary Court. Reports concerning his case have pointed to alleged irregularities in the judicial process, including court sessions held without the presence of a lawyer of his choosing and severe restrictions on communication with his family. Dr. Mohammadreza Abdollahpour has also been identified in reports as a 28-year-old anesthesia specialist who was arrested while assisting an injured person during the protests. Very limited information has so far been made public regarding the case of Amirmohammad Zare.

At a time when a significant number of political prisoners have been executed in Iran in recent months, no official or transparent information has been released regarding the condition of these three detainees, the legal proceedings in their cases, or the possible timing of the implementation of their death sentences, further deepening concerns surrounding their situation.
