Six days after the second arrest of Dr. Mohebat Ghafouri, there is still no information regarding his whereabouts or physical condition. The silence of Iran’s security and judicial authorities about the fate of this pediatric specialist has intensified concerns over her situation.

Dr. Ghafouri, a well-known pediatrician from the city of Lar, Fars province, was arrested by government forces on May 4, 2026. Informed sources say the arrest came after her assets had previously been seized and confiscated under a judicial order.

This is not the first time she has faced security-related prosecution. Several months earlier, during the wave of arrests linked to the January 2026 protests, she was also detained and later released temporarily after spending nearly eight weeks in detention under uncertain conditions.

Beyond her medical practice, Dr. Ghafouri has been recognized in recent years for her charitable activities and financial support for underprivileged families in the Lar region.

Despite the passage of several days since her latest arrest, no official body has provided information about the reasons for her detention, the authority responsible for the arrest, or any charges brought against her.
