Mojtaba Kian, a prisoner accused of espionage for Israel and the United States, was executed in the early hours of Sunday, May 24, 2026. According to media outlets affiliated with Islamic Republic’s judiciary, his execution was carried out less than 50 days after his arrest.

Mizan News Agency, which is affiliated with Islamic Republic’s judiciary, reported that Mojtaba Kian, son of Mohammadqoli, was executed “following legal procedures” after a case was opened against him by the judiciary in Alborz Province and his sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court. The agency claimed that during the “Ramadan War,” he had provided information related to Islamic Republic’s defense industry facilities to the “American-Zionist enemy.”

According to the judiciary’s claims, Kian allegedly transmitted information about facilities producing parts for Islamic Republic’s defense industry through messages sent to what authorities described as “hostile media networks.” In addition to the death sentence, authorities said he had also been sentenced to the confiscation of all his assets.

However, no details about the judicial proceedings in his case have been made public.
