According to information published by media outlets and shared on social media, Mahnam Navab Safavi, a 22-year-old rapper from Isfahan who was arrested during the January 2026 protests, is facing execution. He is currently being held in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

According to published reports, Navab Safavi was arrested at his workplace in Isfahan in January 2026 and subsequently spent approximately 45 days in solitary confinement in a Ministry of Intelligence detention facility. His case was initially handled by Branch 15 of the Prosecutor’s Office and later referred to Branch 5 of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court.

Published reports indicate that he was sentenced to death and formally notified of the verdict on June 20, 2026. Under Iranian law, he has 20 days from the date of notification to appeal the sentence.

The charges against Navab Safavi include waging war against God (moharebeh) through alleged destruction of public property, “disseminating propaganda against the Islamic Republic,” “assembly and collusion,” and “support for the Pahlavi monarchy through graffiti and slogans.”

Published information further indicates that forced confessions were obtained from the protest rapper and that his trial was held in absentia.
