According to information received by the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC), Abolfazl Damanjani, who was detained during the January 2026 protests, joined a hunger strike with other prisoners at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, Razavi Khorasan Province, on July 4, despite suffering from serious health problems.
Damanjani last contacted his family that day. Since then, no information has been made available about his condition or current place of detention.
According to their families, Damanjani and Ahmad Rahimi were being held in the prison’s quarantine ward until July 4, when they were transferred to an undisclosed location. Prison authorities have provided their families with no information about their whereabouts or well-being.
