Behrouz Izanlou, a 43-year-old man detained during the January 2026 protests, and his 16-year-old daughter, Zeinab Izanlou, have been sentenced in a joint case by the Islamic Republic's judiciary to prison terms, flogging, and a monetary fine.

According to the court's ruling, Behrouz Izanlou was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison, 80 lashes, and a fine of 80 million toumans (approximately $420) on charges including "disobeying law enforcement officers while they were carrying out their duties" and "disrupting public order and peace through participation in protests." Zeinab Izanlou, who was 16 at the time of her arrest, was sentenced to six months and 15 days in prison.

The father and daughter were arrested on January 4, 2026, after government forces raided their home in Bojnord without presenting a judicial warrant. Behrouz Izanlou was later released temporarily on bail set at four billion toumans (approximately $25,500), while Zeinab Izanlou was also released on bail after spending a period in detention.

Behrouz Izanlou is a construction worker, a father of two, and a resident of Bojnord. During his detention, he was reportedly denied family visits and access to legal counsel.
