Concerns are mounting over the fate of Shamsi Khosravi, a 44-year-old woman from Saqqez, Kurdistan Province, following a recent hearing in her case before the Tehran Revolutionary Court. Khosravi, who is currently imprisoned in Qarchak Prison in Varamin, is facing several national security-related charges, including "sowing corruption on Earth" and "spying for Israel", charges that have frequently served as the basis for death sentences in Iran in recent years.
According to the human rights organization Hengaw, Khosravi's case was heard in Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati. Hengaw reported that during the hearing, Judge Salavati told Khosravi that she should not expect any sentence other than death.
According to informed sources, in addition to those charges above, Iranian security authorities have also accused Khosravi of "collaborating with Kurdish opposition parties." The sources say the case against her was built amid the heightened security crackdown that followed the outbreak of the 40-day war, a period during which prosecutions based on espionage and other national security allegations increased significantly.
According to the available information, government forces arrested Khosravi on March 5, 2026, while she was traveling from Karaj to Tehran. Following her arrest, she was subjected to enforced disappearance for approximately two months, during which she was denied all contact with her family.
