Sevda Akrami Fard was only 16.

On the night of January 9, 2026, before leaving to join the protests in Marlik, Malard in Alborz Province, she told her mother, “I may not come back.”

Hours later, she was shot and killed. Her family searched for days before finally finding her body among the many bodies of protesters killed and transferred to Kahrizak.

But the pressure on her family did not end with Sevda’s death—from restrictions on her burial and memorial ceremonies to the detention of family members and threats to exhume her body.

Sevda dreamed of a free Iran and of one day celebrating freedom alongside the families of those who had lost their lives.

She is gone. But her story must be told and documented.

For truth. For justice. For accountability.
