Fatemeh Moradpour, a fifteen-year-old teenager from Rumeshkan village in Lorestan Province, committed suicide by hanging herself on October 1, 2024. Reports indicate that she was under pressure by her family to marry an already married 40-year-old man. Although Iran is a party to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, marriage of minors, particularly that of young girls, is a pervasive problem in the country.
