Abbas Shafiei, 43, a resident of Kamal Shahr, Karaj in Alborz Province, was severely beaten by plainclothes forces on November 3, 2022, coinciding with the chehlum of Najafi Hadith, in front of his workshop. He was then struck by dozens of pellets fired by these forces. Shafiei fell into a coma for several days and later died at Madani Hospital in Karaj. After a week, his body was handed over to his family on the condition that they not publicize his death. His body was buried in a remote village. To date, no person or institution has been held accountable for his murder.
