On October 30, 2023, the trial of Mehdi Mohammadifard was held in the Second Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Sari. He was sentenced to six years and six months in prison.
Mehdi Mohammadifard had previously been sentenced to death twice by the First Branch of the Sari Revolutionary Court on charges of "corruption on earth" and "waging war against God". That sentence was overturned by the Ninth Branch of the Supreme Court, and his case was remanded to the Sari Revolutionary Court. On remand, he has been sentenced to six years and six months of imprisonment.
