On Thursday, December 21, 2023, two employees of Chovar Petrochemical named Javad Norouzi and Mostafa Abbasi attempted suicide by hanging themselves in their workplace. Both men had been terminated from their jobs at Chovar Petrochemical. Both men have been taken to the hospital, and they are reported to be in critical condition. In less than two years, six workers at Chovar Petrochemical have attempted suicide, four of whom have died.
