Vahideh Haghparast, also known as “Nora Haghi,” a graduate of veterinary medicine who was detained during a memorial gathering for human rights lawyer Khosrow Alikordi in Mashhad, has been sentenced to a total of four years and four months in prison.

According to published reports, Branch 1 of the Mashhad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Gholamreza Akbari Moghadam, issued the ruling on September 19, 2026. Haghparast was sentenced to three years and seven months for “assembly and collusion with the intent to undermine national security” and an additional nine months for “disseminating propaganda against the Islamic Republic.”

The hearing was reportedly held in the absence of both Haghparast and her attorney. The court denied her written request to postpone the hearing due to illness. The ruling is subject to appeal, and she has been given 20 days to challenge it.

Haghparast was arrested in Mashhad on December 12, 2025, during a gathering held seven days after the death of Khosrow Alikordi, a lawyer and human rights defender. Human rights organizations subsequently included her among those detained at the memorial.

Published reports also indicate that she has faced obstacles in obtaining her degree and veterinary license and in securing employment since 2022.
