Barrack says Trump remains open, available, and accessible to a deal despite months of negotiations.

He adds that President Trump and Congress will ultimately decide what that policy looks like.

While diplomacy remains an option, Barrack's remarks make clear that military action is still on the table.

Senior RSF commander announces defection to Sudanese army in video statement

"Dagalo has let the reins slip into the hands of those who trade in our blood."

A senior Rapid Support Forces commander has released a video announcing his defection to the Sudanese Armed Forces, calling on fellow fighters to follow his lead

Lieutenant Colonel Jiddo Mohammed Adamo Hima reportedly commanded RSF Group 135 and the South Nyala sector in Darfur.

His announcement comes as the RSF faces mounting scrutiny over atrocities committed in Sudan.

The UN has described mass killings, sexual violence, abductions and deliberate starvation during the RSF's capture of El Fasher as acts amounting to genocide.

In his statement, Hima also raises concerns about foreign powers and outside interests influencing the conflict, accusing the RSF leadership of sacrificing Sudanese lives for interests that do not serve the country.

📰 US envoy Tom Barrack has criticised a prominent Druze leader in southern Syria, accusing him of exploiting the perception of Israeli backing and US support to persecute other members of the community.

Barrack, the US ambassador to Turkey and special envoy for Syria, made the remarks in an interview with the commentator Mario Nawfal published on X on Friday.

Barrack said his concern was not Israel but “a particular Druze sheikh”, whom he accused of using perceived Israeli backing and an apparent alignment with Washington to persecute other Druze.

Barrack did not name the sheikh in the remarks. However, his comments come amid tensions surrounding Hikmat al-Hijri, a prominent Druze spiritual leader in Sweida who opposes Damascus's authority, called for Israeli support and advocated for independence from Syria.

RFK says Arabs’ literary tradition has been ‘destroyed by the Muslim Brotherhood’

Speaking during a Republican rally in Michigan on Monday, US secretary of health Robert F Kennedy wrongfully claims that although there are "500 million Arabs in the world", they haven’t won any Nobel or other prizes, blaming the Muslim Brotherhood for the “destruction” of their literary tradition.

“All of that tradition has been destroyed by the Muslim Brotherhood. They’ve created stagnant societies that do one, two things: hatred and war and victimisation,” he said.

At least nine Arabs have won a Nobel Prize, most recently when Omar M Yaghi jointly won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2025.

Israeli soldiers break into south Lebanon home before demolishing it

CCTV footage shared online shows Israeli soldiers breaking into a house in the southern Lebanese town of Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh before bulldozers arrive and start demolishing the home.

Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh sits on the edge of Israel’s self-proclaimed Yellow Line, below which it has occupied and razed entire Shia villages to the ground, rendering them uninhabitable.

Israel has destroyed at least 60 villages in the south since it invaded Lebanon and took control of roughly six percent of the country’s territory.

Trailer - Palestinian recounts brutal settler attack that nearly killed him

Mohamed Radwan, a Palestinian resident of Beitillu in the occupied West Bank, says Israeli settlers brutally beat him in Wadi Zarqa, leaving him with four broken ribs, a punctured lung, multiple head injuries and three fractures in his leg.

Radwan says he and his relatives were attacked by a group of masked settlers with more assailants arriving as they tried to escape. He says he was held at gunpoint, struck with a pistol and beaten with bludgeons fitted with nails. After discovering his identification as an officer in the Palestinian Security Forces, Radwan alleges that more settlers joined the assault. He says his attackers then stuffed dirt into his mouth and covered him with a sheet of corrugated metal before fleeing. Local villagers later rescued him and took him to hospital.

Palestinian citizens of Israel head to the polls hoping for change

Palestinian citizens of Israel cast their ballots on Tuesday, in the first general elections in 2022.

“I want change. I don't want to be treated like a second- or third-class citizen anymore. That's all,” says first-time voter Asia Egbaria.

Palestinians, who make up roughly 20 percent of Israel’s population, are expected to turn up in massive numbers to vote, hoping to tilt the balance against parties running on platforms that openly support the deportation, displacement and expulsion of Palestinians.

🔴 #BREAKING Neither Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor the Zionist opposition parties have enough seats to form a government following a huge surge in voting from Palestinian citizens of Israel, an exit poll suggested on Tuesday.

After polls closed at 10pm local time, Channel 13 said Netanyahu’s bloc is projected to win 50 seats with the opposition set to take 53 – far short of a 61 seat majority.

The Joint List and Raam, two slates representing Palestinian citizens of Israel, are projected to pick up 17 seats, which would be a record number of Arab MPs in Israel’s parliament, the Knesset.

🎥 Syria's Bashar al-Assad is gone, but hundreds of Syrians are still held in Lebanon’s notorious Roumieh prison.

More than 600 prisoners went on hunger strike for over 30 days after the suspension of a controversial general amnesty law aiming to reduce overcrowding. Around 72 were hospitalised in critical condition. The prisoners’ families committee says at least seven died from medical neglect or pre-existing illnesses.

Among the strikers were Syrians arrested during the country's civil war - some over alleged links to the opposition. Many of them have been imprisoned for over a decade without trial.

Earlier this year, the new government in Damascus signed a deal with Beirut to bring Syrian prisoners home, but that did not include all Syrians. So what comes next for those still in Lebanon?
