China is now blocking all encrypted HTTPS traffic using TLS 1.3 and ESNI
The Chinese government is currently using the Great Firewall censorship tool to block certain types of encrypted HTTPS connections.
The block has been in place for more than a week. The reason for the ban is obvious for experts. HTTPS connections negotiated via TLS 1.3 and ESNI prevent third-party observers from detecting what website a user is attempting to access. This effectively blinds the Chinese government's Great Firewall surveillance tool from seeing what users are doing online.

China is now blocking all encrypted HTTPS traffic that uses TLS 1.3 and ESNI
The block was put in place at the end of July and is enforced via China's Great Firewall.

The Great Firewall of...America? WTZ!
This past week on Feb 2 - Feb 7, 2021 a massive attack was conducted on encrypted services, particular VPN's. VPN traffic was throttled to near unusability.
Basically in 2021, the Great Firewall of the USA was turned on. And then abrubtly turned off.
Purpose of the action was unknown. No party stepped up to acknowledge and aside from me, no one has stepped up to call any Internet Provider of their egregious action against privacy minded people.
Why did this attack happen?
Why did the attack stop?

Wallbleed: A Memory Disclosure Vulnerability in the Great Firewall of China | gfw report
#DNS #DNSInjection #GreatFirewall #China
We present Wallbleed, a buffer over-read vulnerability that existed in the DNS injection subsystem of the Great Firewall of China. Wallbleed caused certain nation-wide censorship middleboxes to reveal up to 125 bytes of their memory when censoring a crafted DNS query. It afforded a rare insight into one of the Great Firewallโs well-known network attacks, namely DNS injection, in terms of its internal architecture and the censorโs operational behaviors.#DNS #DNSInjection #GreatFirewall #China
