Conservative government giving NHS data to Amazon for free, documents reveal

US company will be able to access all ‘healthcare information, including without limitation symptoms, causes, and definitions’

#NHS #data on the #health of the #population is being handed over to #Amazon at no charge under a controversial deal between the #USA giant and the #Department of Health and Social Care.

While individual patient data is not being given to the company, a copy of the December 2018 contract between Amazon and the #DHSC reveals the company will be able to profit from its access to a range of NHS information.

Health secretary Matt #Hancock hailed the deal with Amazon in July as a way to help give patients better medical advice using #technology such as #Alexa, which uses Amazon’s #algorithm to answer key question.

Campaigners from #Privacy International obtained a copy of the contract using freedom of information laws. The full contract reveals the deal goes far beyond medical advice for use by Alexa.

It states the company will be able to access all “healthcare information, including without limitation symptoms, causes, and definitions, and all related copyrightable content, data, information and other materials”, the DHSC has.

The contract allows Amazon to use this data in a number of ways – not just providing advice to UK users.

NHS data grab needs explaining | Editorial | The Guardian – https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/may/30/the-guardian-view-on-medical-records-nhs-data-grab-needs-explaining

England’s 55 million patients have until 23 June to opt out of the scheme, but without a debate about the pros and cons, the public will have good reason to be wary. A perceived lack of transparency risks losing the trust of the public at a time when the health service needs to preserve it. That is why this process needs to be scrapped and restarted.

"Vaccine Damage Payment Team"
The #NHS website has censored info, since Nov 21, on #monkeypox and added other info in.
The UK’s National Health Service (#NHS) has recently edited their Monkeypox page to alter the narrative to make monkey pox sound scarier.

Up until a few days ago, according to archived links, the #Monkeypox page said this, regarding person-to-person tranmission [emphasis added]:

"It’s very uncommon to get monkeypox from a person with the infection because it does not spread easily between people..."

…THIS HAS NOW BEEN TOTALLY REMOVED

Secondly, they’ve removed this paragraph, which was present up until at least November of 2021 (and maybe much more recently, there are no archives between November and May) [emphasis added]:

"[Monkeypox] is usually a mild illness that will get better on its own without treatment. Some people can develop more serious symptoms, so patients with monkeypox in the UK are cared for in specialist hospitals..."

The new “treatment” paragraph reads [again, emphasis added]…

"Treatment for monkeypox aims to relieve symptoms. The illness is usually mild and most people recover in 2 to 4 weeks […] You may need to stay in a specialist hospital, so your symptoms can be treated and to prevent the infection spreading to other people..."

So, they're already blatantly changing the story. Why are they doing that?...

#uk #NHS Data Breach: Trusts Shared Patient Details With #Facebook Without Consent

NHS trusts are sharing intimate details about patients’ medical conditions, appointments and treatments with Facebook without consent and despite promising never to do so.

An Observer investigation has uncovered a covert tracking tool in the websites of 20
NHS trusts which has for years collected browsing information and shared it with the tech giant in a major breach of privacy.

The data includes granular details of pages viewed, buttons clicked and keywords searched. It is matched to the user’s IP address – an identifier linked to an individual or household – and in many cases details of their Facebook account.
