How the royal family gorges itself thanks to offshore wind turbines

Offshore wind turbines are a blessing for the British royal family. Their deployment will allow Charles III to increase his income by more than 50%, from 86 million in 2024-2025 to 132 million pounds in 2025-2026 (i.e. 102 and 157 million euros), according to an official report .

To fully understand this, we need to go back to 1760, when King George (1760-1820) III handed over control of his royal domain to Parliament in exchange for a “sovereign grant”. Nearly three centuries later, this area still includes the English, Welsh and Northern Irish seabed.

However, offshore wind farms have recently been installed there against the payment of operating rights. These new revenues have exploded the profitability of the Crown domain, which supplements the government budget. Its profits more than doubled last year to €1.3 billion.

🇫🇷 Macron's €500k lobster banquet for King Charles blew hole in Elyseé's finances

President Emmanuel Macron blew a hole in his palace’s budget when he held a lavish state dinner of lobster and crab for King Charles last year, an annual audit has found.

The Elysee Palace spent close to €500,000 on the September visit by King Charles and Queen Camilla, which included about €40,000 on wine.

It was one of several gestures of Gallic opulence that tipped the palace into the red by €8.3 million.

In all, the Elysée Palace spent €125 million last year, the Cour des Comptes, France’s state auditor, recorded.
