DOH (DNS Over HTTPS) Server App - Prerelease Version

By courtesy of Daniel (Frostnerd) the current and brand new DOH Sever App. This version does not yet contain any functions (e.g. start at boot etc.), but is completely re-encoded.

As usual, this app does not contain advertising, tracking, home calls or whatever. We certainly wouldn't recommend it to you if that were the case. And of course, this App is opensource too.

In the near future there will also be a "keweon Edition", which contains the keweon servers by default. But there will be an extra version of the new DNS Changer app for f-droid, because Googel doesn't tolerate real AdBlockers in the store.

This version is stable, but it is still a pre-release version and there will be more features to add.
The battery consumption is already much lower than with Intra e.g., just be surprised.

SmokeScreen DOH (DNS Over HTTPS) Server App

❓What does this app do?
This app establishes a local dummy VPN -- it doesn't connect to a VPN server and only handles your DNS packets -- to receive DNS requests your phone is sending and forwards them to a Dns-over-https server of your choice. It offers a lot of flexibility, is easy to use and doesn't use many resources. Type #doh, #dns or #alpha to get started.

DNSCloak: System-wide tracking and advertising blocker for iOS

With DNSCloak not only encrypted DNS requests via DNSCrypt & DNS-over-HTTPS/2 (DoH) are possible, but also system-wide blocking of advertisements and trackers via filter lists.

DNSCrypt is a protocol that authenticates the communication between a DNS client and a DNS resolver. It prevents DNS spoofing. It uses signatures to ensure that the responses come from the selected DNS resolver and have not been manipulated. You can learn more about the DNSCrypt protocol at

Advertising profiles in your browser: Eyeo launches "Crumbs".

More and more companies are trying to position themselves for the post-cookie age, including adblocker manufacturer Eyeo.

With a new plugin, Eyeo, known for its AdBlock Plus browser plugin, is trying to launch a new advertising market. "Crumbs" blocks conventional advertising trackers and instead creates a user profile in the browser to play out privacy-preserving yet personalized advertising.

The browser plugin, which is currently available for Chrome and Firefox, is supposed to filter out the currently omnipresent cookie popups as well as the actual tracking techniques, such as third-party cookies or certain scripts. In addition, Crumbs sends the signal of the Global Privacy Control group to prohibit the sharing of profile information.

In addition to a complete blocking of advertising cookies, Crumbs also offers a sandbox mode, in which cookies are only accepted for appearances, but then deleted again. In addition, advertising requests are to be routed through a proxy so that advertisers cannot draw any direct conclusions about the IP address.

Ad block shouldn't break your checkout

We've recently started a shop with some merchandise using TeeSpring. We wanted to try out selling merch as a strategy for monetizing our game Bela Online. And while TeeSpring enabled us to set up this very fast and it is a no-brainer in terms of how hands off it is, there are some issues. Some critical issues.

What happened? 🤔

If your customer has an ad blocker enabled which blocks, well, ads, the whole checkout experience breaks. A friend of mine reported it today to me. He has uBlock Origin installed and when he clicks "Checkout" the site doesn't do anything. 😢

The experience just stops, and he couldn't go through with the order.

I've sent a report through a channel intended for reporting issues with your order, but I've also wanted to write this blog post as a cautionary tale for other developers.
