Exposed: China’s Operating Manuals for Mass Internment and Arrest by Algorithm

A new leak of highly classified Chinese government documents has uncovered the operations manual for running the mass detention camps in Xinjiang and exposed the mechanics of the region’s Orwellian system of mass surveillance and “predictive policing.”

The China Cables, obtained by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, include a classified list of guidelines, personally approved by the region’s top security chief, that effectively serves as a manual for operating the camps now holding hundreds of thousands of Muslim Uighurs and other minorities. The leak also features previously undisclosed intelligence briefings that reveal, in the government’s own words, how Chinese police are guided by a massive data collection and analysis system that uses artificial intelligence to select entire categories of Xinjiang residents for detention.

The manual, called a “telegram,” instructs camp personnel on such matters as how to prevent escapes, how to maintain total secrecy about the camps’ existence, methods of forced indoctrination, how to control disease outbreaks, and when to let detainees see relatives or even use the toilet. The document, dating to 2017, lays bare a behavior-modification “points” system to mete out punishments and rewards to inmates.

Report: AI Company Leaks Over 2.5M Medical Records

The leaked data relates to car accidents and includes names, insurance records, medical diagnosis notes, and payment records.

A security researcher has detailed how an artificial intelligence company in possession of nearly 2.6 million medical records allowed them to be publicly visible on the internet. It's a clear reminder that our personal health data is not safe.

As Secure Thoughts reports, on July 7 security researcher Jeremiah Fowler discovered two folders of medical records available for anyone to access on the internet. The data was labeled as "staging data" and hosted by artificial intelligence company Cense AI, which specializes in "SaaS-based intelligent process automation management solutions." Fowler believes the data was made public because Cense AI was temporarily hosting it online before loading it into the company's management system or an AI bot.

235 Million Instagram, TikTok And YouTube User Profiles Exposed In Massive Data Leak

The security research team at Comparitech today disclosed how an unsecured database left almost 235 million Instagram, TikTok and YouTube user profiles exposed online in what can only be described as a massive data leak.

Recently there has been a spate of reports concerning account data appearing on dark web cybercrime forums. From the dark web audit suggesting there are currently 15 billion stolen logins from 100,000 breaches out there, to the hacker giving away 386 million stolen records for free. Not all of this data will have been hacked, at least not in the usual sense of the word: some, as was likely the case in the Utah Gun Exchange incident, will have been exposed by an unsecured database.

Hackers leak data on 1,000 Belarusian police officers

Security forces will not remain anonymous, anti-Lukashenko protesters say

Anonymous hackers leaked the personal data of 1,000 Belarusian police officers in retaliation for a crackdown on street demonstrations against the veteran president, Alexander Lukashenko, as protesters geared up for another mass rally on Sunday.

“As the arrests continue, we will continue to publish data on a massive scale,” said a statement distributed by the opposition news channel Nexta Live on the messaging app Telegram. “No one will remain anonymous, even under a balaclava.”

The government said it would find and punish those responsible for leaking the data, which was widely distributed on Saturday evening.
