Nigeria Independence Celebration


They said "call it the joyful day"
But why not instead the starry night?
With the few well fed stars
That glowed in peace
And the gloomy smoke
Which was filled with cries -
As eyes of the masses
Melted in sorrow,
Their stomachs grumbled of hunger
And had their hearts
Encaged with terror -
Shouldn't it be the night of mourning?
Where leaders express
Regrets
Over their failures.

The sound of rain echoed,
And cracks
Began to spread
Through the lifeless land.
Creatures that were thought
To have gone forever
Appeared, rising to their feet;
Their leaves, branches and flowers
Were emerging like their decay
Was a type of hiding.
And their display
Of the fading greenland
Was a facade, not the end of life.

In the silence of the night
You said goodbye
This hit so hard
My tears are heavy
Carrying my feelings
We talked about everything
Except what's on our minds
It's like the craziest place to be
You're my worst familiar stranger

You left with a part of me
And I'm still bleeding,
Believing in recovery
I wake up everyday,
wondering if you're ok
I know it's over
But my heart's a dreamer
You know all my secrets
And you're now a stranger

It's hard to move on
When we keep asking
What could have been
But...It's funny how we adjust
Like scary eyes in the dark night

On the canvas of universe, she is too small to be seen
On the surface of earth, she is too extreme to fit

She was born not to belong
Not to a nation
Not to a home
And not among her species

Rootless, her mind flys
Drowning she is, from dawn till dusk
Unsatisfying curiosity never leaves her
Paralyzed she is,
by the weight of her unravelling thoughts
By the eyes on her
By the world itself

She was born not to belong
Not to a society
Not to a soul
Not to life itself

Rootless she is
Filled with pain she is
Belonged she isn't,
any where
any land
any water
any planet

She longs to be out
Out of this world
Out of this universe

Perhaps from her very beginning she got off on the wrong stop
Her words, misjudged
Her thoughts, misunderstood
Her identity, unbeknownst

To Be a Woman

With stars in the eyes
I came into the world
Dreaming to fly like a butterfly
Dad told me countless
I was his princess
But all I wanted
Was to be fearless
I went to school
Did pretty good
I worked so hard
And succeeded
But the world had other plans for a no-man
Girl you should settle
They starded to tell
You should get a man
While you get the chance
But I wasn't ready
To accept my duty
I wish I knew then
Celibacy was no sin
nor marriage "but" a win
Everyone should be free
To choose their own glee
Whether it's a ring
Or nothing.....at all

I'm not asking for much

I stopped praying years ago
Hands running on my body, in slow mo
There's no hand here though

I am marred, you know

Scared, wanting for waves to carry me, as they flow..

But I won't do so
I want it... but it's me who needs to row

I want your hands on me
Smoothing my soul, crease free
And that soft peck of glee
That's just what I ask for, trust me

But that hold frights me, you see

So I'm begging,  to be clutched by thee
Smothered, not even gasping to flee

How to not hold on to the belongings
Whilst you bathe in the agony and I am out there revolting

We see the stars with tears in our eyes and we know there's no dream left
But we do still be hopelessly waiting for the hope in disguise

There's so much patience in us but we no more could put up with the dread in our minds
Halfway through the day we yet keep awaiting for the nights

We have gotten nowhere but look how far have come our lives
From finding the purpose of our souls
to now laying down helplessly with inconsequential smiles

Only you and I know how to convey the inconveniency of the bothersome hearts with APHASIA
Expressing themselves with insufficient words and futile rhymes

The sacred night"!
In the ocean of waves
Within the darkness of night
Whispering the unheard voice
Just like an hoax in form of reality

I knew it would be hard
The road would be more tough
The strength loses its might
Yelling is just in vain

I kept thinking day by day
Your memories turned to miseries night by night
I wish I never knew you nor could have met you

Her smell's like rosemary perfume,
And golden hair's like sonagachi;
The lips are looking like amaryllis;
The face is like the morning sun;
Body is as soft as the balloon;
Her voice is as sweet as elaichi;
Brown eyes are like killing us –
And such beauty is only one!!
