Raisins, coconut, garlands & sindoor,
Drapped inside the shawl, is our Goddess we tried to lure.

But even with our grand offerings, she wouldn't fall prey!
She's well aware of the hypocrisy in everything we say.

We crush her on the roads & cage her behind the doors,
Our glory-singing mouth stamps her as a whore!

She's the divine supreme & yet a human like us,
But we conveniently forget that & make 9 nights a fuss!

Redemption of self is the only worship worth an offer,
even though its too late, let us mend our ways & apologize or
the whole world would fall & suffer.
